"Get Another Love" is a song by Tunisian-born French singer Chantal Curtis, released as a single in 1979. It was written by Ernest Donable who was a member of the band that backed her on the recording. The song is Curtis's most successful recording. Background In 1979, two of her songs were predicted to do well by '' Cashbox'' in its June 2 issue. They were programmers picks in the "Can't Miss" category. Leon Wagner from Madison picked "Hey Taxi Driver", while Chuck Parsons of Baltimore picked "Get Another Love". In the US, "Get Another Love" was released as a single on Keylock Records and that release was remixed by Glen Blacks. In July 1979, it was on the Dallas / Houston disco chart at No. 11, just behind by the Gibson Brothers' "Cuba" at No. 10. Also, the July 14 issue of ''Record World'' reported it as being on the Discothèque Hit Parade at The Ritz in Houston. Pierre Jaubert aka Pierre Berjot (1929 – August 2017) was a record company executive and a record producer. He has produced recordings for artists such as John Lee Hooker, Krispie And Company, The Lafayette Afro Rock Band, Mal Waldron, Leroy Gomez, Chantal Curtis, Beckie Bell and Richard Sanderson. According to the French Wikipedia he died on August 8, 2017. Career 1960s As of early 1967, he was the international manager for the French company Musicdisc which was the first French company to push 4-track cartridges. In 1967, he was announcing that his company was going to sell 4-track cartridges rather than 8-tracks. The following year he had said in an article that the company had switched to 8-tracks and they were having trouble satisfying the demand for them. The Gibson Brothers are a French musical group, originally from Martinique, who had their greatest success during the disco boom of the late 1970s. Their best known hit singles included "Cuba" and " Que Sera Mi Vida". Career The three brothers, Chris Francfort (born 20 June 1954, lead vocals, percussion), Patrick Francfort (23 February 1957 – 4 April 2020, vocals, drums) and Alex Francfort (vocals, keyboards), were born in Lamentin Acajou on Martinique. They traveled with their parents to Paris in the mid-1950s, and in 1969 joined the group Phalansters, formed by Jean-Jacques Goldman. They also formed the group Martinique Express, who appeared on French television alongside Guy Lux. It was the group's first charting single: In the US, "Cuba", went to #81 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and #9 on the ''Billboard'' Dance chart. Outside the US, upon its original release, it reached number one in Finland, and was a top 30 hit in Belgium, the Netherlands and West Germany. Lafayette Afro Rock Band
Lafayette Afro Rock Band was an American funk band formed in Roosevelt, Long Island, New York in 1970. Shortly after their formation, they relocated to France. Though little-known in their native United States during their recording period, they have since become celebrated as one of the standout funk bands of the 1970s and are particularly noted for their use of break beats. The band also recorded under the names Ice, Crispy & Co. (Krispie & Co. in Europe), Captain Dax, and others. Upon their relocation to Paris, the local music scene influenced the group's work, inspiring the addition of rock and African elements.
