Gerry Brown (drummer)
Gerry Brown (born November 9, 1951) is an American jazz drummer. Life Brown was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. He began playing the drums at the age of five. He played with soul groups and played in high school with bassist John Lee, with whom he attended music academy in 1970. In 1971, he moved to New York, where he played for Lionel Hampton. In 1972 he moved to the Netherlands with Lee to join Chris Hinze's rock jazz group. With bassist John Lee as co-leader, he recorded a series of albums in the 1970s. Alongside Lee, he also worked for Jasper van 't Hof, Toto Blanke, Charlie Mariano, Eef Albers and Gary Bartz in the mid-1970s. Subsequently, they were members of Larry Coryell's The Eleventh House for two years; Brown also played for Stanley Clarke and Chick Corea. Montreux Jazz Festival
The Montreux Jazz Festival (formerly Festival de Jazz Montreux and Festival International de Jazz Montreux) is a music festival in Switzerland, held annually in early July in Montreux on the Lake Geneva shoreline. It is the second-largest annual jazz festival in the world after Canada's Montreal International Jazz Festival. Initiator and head organizer Claude Nobs brought an array of artists to Montreux. Mathieu Jaton has organised the festival since Nobs' death in 2013. Lionel Richie
Lionel Brockman Richie Jr. (born June 20, 1949) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and television personality. William Henry Marcus Miller Jr. (born June 14, 1959) is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He has worked with trumpeter Miles Davis, pianist Herbie Hancock, singer Luther Vandross, and saxophonists Wayne Shorter and David Sanborn, among others. He was the main songwriter and producer on three of Davis' albums: ''Tutu (album), Tutu'' (1986), ''Music from Siesta'' (1987), and ''Amandla (album), Amandla'' (1989). Urszula Bogumiła Dudziak-Urbaniak (born 22 October 1943) is a Polish jazz vocalist. She has worked with Krzysztof Komeda, Michał Urbaniak (her ex-husband), Gil Evans, Archie Shepp, and Lester Bowie. In 2007, her 1970s song "Papaya" gained widespread popularity in Asia and Latin America. George Benson
George Washington Benson (born March 22, 1943) is an American jazz fusion guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He began his professional career at the age of 19 as a jazz guitarist. A former child prodigy, Benson first came to prominence in the 1960s, playing soul jazz with Jack McDuff and others. He then launched a successful solo career, alternating between jazz, pop, rhythm and blues, R&B singing, and scat singing. Kraan
Kraan is a German band based in Ulm and formed in 1970. It had several minor hits through the 1970s and 1980s. After a break of ten years, the group reunited in 2000. Their early style can be described as Krautrock that turned later to fusion, combining elements of both rock and jazz. The band was named Kraan, after considering the name Jack Steam. The name means faucet in Dutch, a fact they were apparently unaware of at the time; it has no meaning in German, but they liked it because it was easy to remember. Anne Haigis
Anne Haigis (born 9 December 1955) is a German musician, singer and songwriter. Through the 1980s, she gained commercial success with rock songs, blues and ballads sung in German with her native Swabian accent.
