Gerri Green
Gerri Germaine Green (pronounced Gary) (born September 14, 1995) is an American professional football defensive end. He played college football at Mississippi State and was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL draft. He has also been a member of the New England Patriots, Washington Football Team, Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans and Chicago Bears. Early life Green was born in Jackson, Mississippi and grew up in Greenville, Mississippi. He attended Greenville High School, where he was a standout defensive player for the Hornets. Rated a four-star recruit by several talent evaluators, Green played in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star and the Semper Fidelis Bowl after recording 98 tackles, including 11.5 for loss, and 5.0 sacks in his senior year. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. The Auburn Tigers football program represents Auburn University in the sport of American college football. Auburn competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). In gridiron football, a sack occurs when the quarterback (or another offensive player acting as a passer) is tackled behind the line of scrimmage before throwing a forward pass, when the quarterback is tackled behind the line of scrimmage in the " pocket" and without clear intent, or when a passer runs out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage due to defensive pressure. This often occurs if the opposing team's defensive line, linebackers or defensive backs are able to apply pass pressure (also called a pass rush) to quickly get past blocking players of the offensive team (the quarterback's protection), or if the quarterback is unable to find an available eligible receiver (including wide receivers, running backs and tight ends) to catch the ball, allowing the defense a longer opportunity to tackle the quarterback. It is the second-oldest company in the state of Mississippi, and is one of the few newspapers in the nation that continues to circulate statewide. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section).
