Geroa Bai () is a regional political coalition in the Chartered Community of Navarre, created for the 2011 election to the Cortes Generales. It includes the Basque Nationalist Party (EAJ-PNV), Atarrabia Taldea, and the Geroa Socialverdes partnership. These groups had shared the former coalition Nafarroa Bai, along with Eusko Alkartasuna and Aralar (which entered the coalition Amaiur, and later EH Bildu), and Batzarre (which entered the coalition Izquierda-Ezkerra). Miren Uxue Barkos Berruezo (born 5 July 1964), simply known as Uxue Barkos, is a Spanish journalist and politician who served as the President of Navarre from 2015 to 2019. She previously represented the Basque nationalist coalition Geroa Bai (Basque for ''Yes to the Future''), and before that, Nafarroa Bai (Basque For ''Yes to Navarre''), in the Spanish Congress of Deputies. Career in journalism Barkos graduated in Information Sciences at the University of Navarra. Izquierda-Ezkerra (, I–E (n)) was an electoral alliance in Navarre formed by United Left of Navarre (IUN) and Batzarre. It was established in January 2011 after Batzarre split from the Nafarroa Bai coalition. Batzarre accepted IUN's call to form a coalition along with Socialist local figures—the ''Plataforma Navarra por el Cambio''—disgruntled with the Socialist Party's social policies and standing support to the conservative anti-Basque Unión del Pueblo Navarro (UPN). Batzarre () is a political party in Navarre, Spain. It has a branch in the Basque Autonomous Community known as Zutik. It bids to win the political space to the left of the Basque nationalists and the Spanish socialists, the latter eroded for their long-running collusion with the conservative UPN government. Amaiur was a left-wing Basque nationalist and separatist political coalition from the Basque Country and Navarre. The name of the coalition comes from the fortress of Amaiur in Navarre, which was one of the last Basque strongholds during the Spanish conquest of Iberian Navarre. Amaiur was launched on 27 September 2011 by Eusko Alkartasuna, Alternatiba (which had both been part of Bildu), Aralar (previously in alliance with the Basque Nationalist Party, PNV in Nafarroa Bai), independent individuals of the abertzale left (including many former members of Batasuna), and other smaller groups, while the PNV refused to join. Aralar was a Basque socialist and separatist political party in Spain. It was opposed to the violent struggle of ETA. History Aralar was born in the 1990s from a critical tendency within Herri Batasuna (HB) and Euskal Herritarrok (EH), led by Patxi Zabaleta. The tendency had its main base in Navarre. The breaking of ETA's truce in 2000 provoked Herri Batasuna's reformation into Batasuna, to have presence in all Euskal Herria. Eusko Alkartasuna (; ; ; ) is a Basque nationalist and social-democratic political party operating in Spain and France. The Basque language name means ''Basque Solidarity'' and abbreviated as EA.
