Germain Ayache () was a Moroccan historian born in 1915. Biography He was born to a Jewish Moroccan family in 1915, with some sources giving his place of birth as Berkane and others Saïdia. He earned a degree with distinction in European classical literature in Bordeaux, France in 1935. He returned to Morocco to teach, then moved back to France. He returned to Morocco at the time of its independence. He joined the faculty of history at the college of literature in Rabat in 1957. Berkane
Berkane () is a city in northeastern Morocco, limited by the Mediterranean to the north, the Kis river (Moroccan-Algerian border) and Oujda Province in the east, Nador Province to the west, and Taourirt Province in the south. It is the capital of Berkane Province. Population The city recorded a population of 109,237 in the 2014 Moroccan census. Saïdia
Saïdia (; ''Ajrud''), known as the ''"Blue Pearl"'', is a coastal town in northeastern Morocco. It is located in the Berkane Province in the north of Beni Znassen region, lying in the adjacent metropolitan area of Berkane itself, along the Mediterranean Sea to the north and Moroccan-Algerian border to the east.
