Gerell Elliott
Gerell Elliott (born May 11, 1970, in Fresno, California) is a retired American soccer player who spent three seasons in Major League Soccer. Youth Elliott grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he attended Manzano High School. He then attended Fresno State University, playing on the men's soccer team from 1988 to 1991. He was a 1990 Third-Team All-American and a 1991 First-Team All-American. in addition to being the 1991 Big West Player of the Year. He finished his career with fifty-four goals and twenty-eight assists. Professional In August 1992, Elliott signed with SSV Ulm 1846 of the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. The Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL) was a professional indoor soccer league that played from 1993 to 1997. History In the summer of 1989 Dr Jerry Buss, the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and California Sports, told his executive Vice President, Ron Weinstein, he was closing the doors on the Los Angeles Lazers of the Major Indoor Soccer League, MISL, and that if he ever wanted to "create a professional indoor soccer league that played in the summer months, out from under the shadow of the NBA, NFL, NHL, NCAA Football and NCAA Basketball", he would support the endeavor. The World Indoor Soccer League (WISL) was a United States-based indoor soccer league that existed from 1998 to 2001 and consisted of nine teams. History After the demise of the Continental Indoor Soccer League, four of its teams decided to create a new indoor league to be called the Premier Soccer Alliance. The teams complemented their schedules with games against international teams. In 1999, two more former CISL teams (the Houston Hotshots and Monterrey La Raza) joined the league, which then changed its name to World Indoor Soccer League.
