Geraldo Júlio
Geraldo Júlio de Mello Filho (born 19 March 1971) is a Brazilian politician and a former mayor of Recife, Pernambuco. He is a member of the Brazilian Socialist Party. Political career Geraldo Júlio de Mello Filho was born in Recife, he acted in the third term of Miguel Arraes's Government of Pernambuco and, in 2000, he was the director of planning of the Administration Secretary of the Prefecture of Recife. In Eduardo Campos' government, he assumed the office of Planning Secretary in 2007 and, four years later, he was State Secretary of Economic Development. Júlio was a mayoral candidate in the 2012 municipal elections, being elected in the first round with 51,15% of the valid votes, and was re-elected in the 2016 elections. João Henrique Campos
João Henrique de Andrade Lima Campos (born 26 November 1993), is a Brazilian politician who has been the mayor of Recife since 2021. He was first elected as a federal deputy to the Chamber of Deputies for the state of Pernambuco during the 2018 general election as a member of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB). He is the son of former government minister and governor of Pernambuco Eduardo Campos. Early life Campos was born on 26 November 1993 in Recife to Eduardo Campos and Renata de Andrade Lima, with Renata having established a career as an economist and state auditor. He comes from a politically prominent family in Pernambuco. In addition to his father, his great-grandfather Miguel Arraes was a long established political figure in Pernambuco. Eduardo Campos
Eduardo Henrique Accioly Campos (10 August 1965 – 13 August 2014) was a Brazilian congressman and governor. Born and raised in Recife, in the Northeast Brazil, he graduated in Economics from the Recife's Federal University of Pernambuco. Campos' maternal grandfather, the governor of the Brazilian state, Pernambuco, made him his Financial Secretary. Campos became a federal congressman in Brazil and got Pernambuco federal money for a shipyard, railways and an oil refinery. 2016 Brazilian Municipal Elections
The Brazilian municipal elections of 2016 took place on 2 October 2016 and on 30 October 2016 (for cities with more than 200,000 voters, where the two-round system, second round is available). Electors chose mayors, vice-mayors and city councillors of all 5,568 cities of the country. The partisan conventions took place between 20 July and 5 August. The party political broadcast started on 26 August and ended on 29 September. Until 2012 Brazilian municipal elections, 2012, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays there was the broadcast for candidates to city halls, 30 minutes long. The broadcasts for candidates for city councils were broadcast on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, also 30 minutes long. At least 97 cities had only one candidate for mayor in these elections.
