Michael Georgiou (born 18 January 1988) is a British-Cypriot former professional snooker player from Forest Hill. He is a practice partner of Igor Figueiredo and Hammad Miah, who practises at Whetstone Snooker Club. In 2018, Georgiou won his first professional ranking title by defeating Graeme Dott in the final of the Snooker Shoot-Out. Michael Georgiou made the 140th official maximum break in the third frame of the last 128 match against Umut Dikme at the 2018 Paul Hunter Classic. It was Michael's first professional maximum break. Costas Georgiou (; 1951 – 10 July 1976), also known by his alias Colonel Callan, was a Cypriot-born British mercenary executed in Angola following the Luanda Trial for activities during the civil war phase of the Angolan War of Independence. Early life Georgiou was born in Cyprus in 1951, when the island was a British Crown colony. His family moved to London in 1963. British military career Georgiou joined the British Army and served, at first with distinction, in 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment in Northern Ireland. He was credited as being one of the best marksmen in the unit. He later became involved with other paratroopers in an armed robbery on a Post Office on 18 February 1972. Georgiou was eventually sentenced to five years in prison. Andreas Georgiou ( el, Ανδρέας Γεωργίου, born Patras, 1960) is a Greek economist and former President of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). In June 2021, he became the European Parliament’s representative at the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board, the body that provides an independent overview of the European Statistical System. John Georgiou (born 5 October 1975) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for St Kilda in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the 1990s. Georgiou, recruited from Parkmore, was just 16 years and 210 days old when he made his league debut in the 1992 AFL season. St Kilda won all seven games which Georgiou played that year but he got injured and over the next three seasons could only add a further nine appearances before being delisted.
