''Georgia Trend'' (tagline: ''The Magazine of Georgia Business, Politics & Economic Development Since 1985'') is a monthly business magazine covering business and finance in Georgia. It was established in 1985 by Times Publishing Company, which published the '' St. Petersburg Times'' (forerunner of the ''Tampa Bay Times''). Eugene Patterson
Eugene Corbett Patterson (October 15, 1923 – January 12, 2013), sometimes known as Gene Patterson, was an American journalist and civil rights activist. He was awarded the 1967 Pulitzer Prize, 1967 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Writing. Early life Patterson was born in Valdosta, Georgia, the son of Annabel Corbett, a schoolteacher, and William C. Patterson, a bank cashier. After the bank at which his father worked was closed in the course of the Great Depression, the family moved to a small farm near Adel, Georgia. The house had no running water or electricity, and was heated only by the fireplace. With his father able to get only occasional employment at local banks, the family was primarily supported by his mother's work as a teacher and her running the farm. The ''New Georgia Encyclopedia'' (NGE) is a web-based encyclopedia containing over 2,000 articles about the state of Georgia. It is a program of Georgia Humanities (GH), in partnership with the University of Georgia Press, the University System of Georgia/ Georgia Library Learning Online (GALILEO), and the Office of the Governor. The NGE was launched in 2004. It was the first state encyclopedia to be conceived and designed exclusively for publication online. The idea for the project grew out of the 1996 joint publication of ''The New Georgia Guide'' by the Georgia Humanities Council and the University of Georgia Press. ''The Augusta Chronicle'' is the daily newspaper of Augusta, Georgia, and is one of the oldest newspapers in the United States still in publication. The paper is known for its coverage of the Masters Tournament, which is played in Augusta. History The paper was founded as the weekly ''Augusta Gazette'' in 1785. In 1786, the paper was renamed ''The Georgia State Gazette''. From 1789 to 1804, the paper was known as ''The Augusta Chronicle and Gazette of the State''.
