Georgia State Route 189
State Route 189 (SR 189) is a state highway that runs south-to-north through portions of Dade and Walker counties in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Route description SR 189 begins at an intersection with SR 136 southeast of Trenton, in Dade County. It heads northeast through part of Cloudland Canyon State Park and has a small wobble into Walker County before going back into Dade County. It heads northwest and curves to the northeast until it meets SR 157 (Hinkle Road). The two routes run concurrent to the northeast. On the southwestern edge of Lookout Mountain, they cut across the eastern edge of Covenant College. They briefly run along the Dade–Walker county line, with SR 157 splitting off onto McFarland Road, before SR 189 crosses back into Dade County. Trenton, Georgia
Trenton is a city and the only incorporated municipality in Dade County, Georgia, United States—and as such, it serves as the county seat. The population was 2,195 at the 2020 census. Trenton is part of the Chattanooga, Tennessee–GA Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Founded in the 1830s, the area was originally known as Salem. Cloudland Canyon State Park
Cloudland Canyon State Park is a Georgia state park located near Trenton and Cooper Heights on the western edge of Lookout Mountain. One of the largest and most scenic parks in Georgia, it contains rugged geology, and offers visitors a range of vistas across the deep gorge cut through the mountain by Sitton Gulch Creek, where the elevation varies from 800 to over 1,800 feet.Brown (1996), p. 11 Views of the canyon can be seen from the picnic area parking lot, in addition to additional views located along the rim trail. State Route 148 (SR 148) is state highway in Hamilton County in southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Tennessee. Route description SR 148 begins at Georgia State Route 189 at the TN-GA border in both Lookout Mountain, Tennessee and Lookout Mountain, Georgia. It proceeds northeast to a four-way intersection where SR 148 turns northward and continues northward to Downtown Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, where SR 148 turns eastward and leaves the Town limits of Lookout Mountain. State Route 136 (SR 136) is a state highway that travels west-to-east through portions of Dade, Walker, Gordon, Murray, Gilmer, Pickens, Dawson, and Hall counties in the northwestern and north-central parts of the U.S. state of Georgia.
