Georgia Holt
Georgia Holt (born Jackie Jean Crouch; June 9, 1926 – December 10, 2022) was an American singer-songwriter, model, and occasional bit part actress. She was best known for being the mother of Cher. Early life Holt was born Jackie Jean Crouch on June 9, 1926, in Kensett, Arkansas, to Lynda Inez (née Gulley; 1913–2009) and Roy Malloy Crouch (1905–1969). Mr. Crouch was a baker at the time. Holt said she was of English, German, Irish, French, Dutch, and Cherokee descent. Frequently moving back and forth between her separated parents, Holt estimated that she attended 17 junior high schools. Her father taught her how to sing and play guitar. Career Holt sang on an Oklahoma City radio station when she was six years old, and by the age of 10, had sung with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. Kensett is a city in White County, Arkansas, United States. Located adjacent to the east side of Searcy, the city is the hometown of noted legislator Wilbur D. Mills, who was influential throughout the 1960s and 1970s in the United States House of Representatives. Allen Edge is the current mayor. The population was 1,648 at the 2010 census. Studio One, formerly known as The Factory, was an LGBT nightclub in West Hollywood, California. History The Studio One building was originally owned by William Fox and housed the Mitchel Camera Company. Mitchel manufactured Hollywood's early film cameras used by Charlie Chaplin, and for filming The Wizard of Oz. Later, it was used as the Norden bombsight facility during World War II. In 1968, the building was bought and transformed into The Factory nightclub, named after the furniture manufacturing business in the lower floor of the building. The Factory became a popular 1960s-style discothèque that was frequented by Hollywood celebrities, but it only lasted a few years. The TCB Band is a group of musicians who formed the rhythm section of Elvis Presley's band from August 1969 until his death in 1977 (depending on the context, the nickname may also extend to Presley's background vocalists during that same period: the Imperials, the Sweet Inspirations, and J.
