Georges Vanconingsloo
Georges Van Coningsloo (27 October 1940 – 7 April 2002) was a Belgian racing cyclist. Career Van Coningsloo was a professional from 1963 to 1974. In 1967, he won Bordeaux–Paris, after a 370 kilometer breakaway. He rode in four Grand Tours in his career: three editions of the Tour de France, and the 1970 Vuelta a España, but failed to finish all of the races. His son Philippe was also a high level cyclist. He died, however, before turning professional, after suffering a heart attack during a race. In his honor, a race called the Memorial Philippe Van Coningsloo is held in July. His other son, Olivier, was also a professional cyclist, who rode for two seasons before ending his career. Wavre
Wavre (; nl, Waver, ; wa, Wåve) is a city and municipality of Wallonia, capital of the province of Walloon Brabant, Belgium. Wavre is in the Dyle valley. Most inhabitants speak French as their mother tongue and are called "Wavriens" and "Wavriennes". The municipality consist of the following districts: Bierges, Limal, and Wavre. Wavre is also called "the City of the Maca", referring to the statue of the small boy trying to climb the wall of the city hall. Tradition holds that touching the Maca's buttocks brings a year of luck. Tour De L'Oise
The Tour de Picardie was a professional multi-stage cycle road race that was held between 1936 and 2016 in Picardy, France. In its last twelve editions, it was organised as a 2.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour. The race was called Tour de l'Oise from its founding in 1936 until 1999, when it was renamed the Tour de Picardie et de l'Oise, and then the Tour de Picardie in 2000, which it remained until its demise. The Tour de Wallonie is a stage race cycling race on the UCI Europe Tour. It runs in Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium in the end of July. Tour Of Belgium
The Tour of Belgium ( nl, Ronde van België; french: Tour de Belgique) is a five-day bicycle race which is held annually in Belgium, and is part of the UCI ProSeries. It was held annually between 1908 and 1981, except during both world wars. Between 1982 and 1990 several races were not organised and none at all from 1991 to 2001. From 2002 onwards the race has again become an annual fixture on the cycling calendar. Following the start of the UCI ProTour in 2005 it looked like the race would merge with the Eneco Tour; however this did not happen and it became part of the UCI Europe Tour competition. Winners Twelve riders have managed to win the Tour of Belgium more than once.
