George Van Heukelom
George Richard Johannes van Heukelom (9 August 1949 – 14 April 2023) was a Dutch politician, academic administrator, and member of the Reformed Political Party (SGP). During his early career, he was President of the Reformed Political Party Youth, the youth wing of the SGP, from 1986 until 1991. Provincial Executive
The provincial executive (, GS) is the executive branch of government of a province in the Netherlands. It is the equivalent of the municipal executive at the provincial level. The provincial executive consists of the King's Commissioner (chair) and three to seven deputies (). The deputies are chosen by the provincial council, the elected assembly of the province. Each deputy has their own portfolio for which they prepare, coordinate and plan policy and legislation for the provincial council and execute legislation. The deputies have the duty to inform the provincial council on all aspects of their policy. The provincial executive functions as a collegial body and most decisions are taken by consensus. Omroep Zeeland is a public broadcaster located in Zeeland, Netherlands. Founded in 1988, the media organization is active in television, radio, and internet. The audience is on average slightly older than that of the other Dutch regional broadcasters. History Omroep Zeeland was founded in 1988 after being in the pipeline since 1965. It launched its radio broadcasts on 1 January 1990. Its building, located in Oost-Souburg, served until 1996 as municipality seat of Oost- en West-Souburg. Nieuwerkerk
Nieuwerkerk is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland, and lies about 23 km south of Hellevoetsluis. Nieuwerkerk was a separate municipality until 1961, when the new municipality of Duiveland was created. History Nieuwerkerk was created in the 12th century. It was a split-off from Ouwerkerk. The fifteenth-century Protestant church, originally dedicated to John (evangelist), has an 6 sided tower. It was rebuilt in 1975 on the foundations of the original tower, which was blown up in 1945 by the Germans. During the North Sea flood of 1953, approximately 265 of the 1,800 residents drowned or went missing.
