George Schuller
George Schuller (born December 29, 1958) is an American jazz drummer. He is the son of composer Gunther Schuller. Biography Schuller was born in New York City and raised in Boston. In 1982 he graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music with a degree in jazz performance. He performed with Herb Pomeroy, Ran Blake, George Garzone, and Jaki Byard. In 1984 he started the band Orange Then Blue. Ten years later he moved to Brooklyn and led the bands Chump Change, Schulldogs, and Jiggle. He has also worked with Dave Douglas, Nnenna Freelon, Lee Konitz, and Joe Lovano. Orange Then Blue is an avant-garde big band from Boston, Massachusetts led by drummer George Schuller. Several well known jazz musicians have performed with the group as either members or guests, including trumpeters Dave Douglas and Cuong Vu, saxophonist Chris Speed, and bassist Reid Anderson. Steve Kirby (musician)
Steve Kirby is an American jazz bassist, composer, and educator. Biography Kirby was born in Maumee Valley, Toledo, Ohio, and his family moved to St. Louis when he was two years old. He began playing guitar and bass guitar while stationed at Fort Bragg, and following this he attended Webster University, receiving his degree in 1985. He worked in ensembles and then got his master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music, where he played with Lester Bowie. In 1988 he returned to Webster, where he taught until 1993. In January 2017, Kirby released ''All Over the Map'', his first orchestral recording featuring his compositions. Kirby appeared as a leader on the albums ''Wicked Grin (2008)'' and ''Stepchild'' (2013), featuring the University of Manitoba Jazz Faculty Ensemble. Tom Varner
Tom Varner (born June 17, 1957 in Morristown, New Jersey, Morristown, New Jersey, United States) is an American jazz French horn, horn (French horn) player and composer. Varner grew up in Millburn, New Jersey, where he started playing in the orchestra at Millburn High School. He studied piano in his youth with Capitola Dickerson of Summit, New Jersey. He holds a B.M. degree (1979) from the New England Conservatory of Music, where he studied jazz improvisation and composition with Ran Blake, George Russell (composer), George Russell, and Jaki Byard, and horn with Thomas Newell. He also studied briefly in 1976 with jazz horn pioneer Julius Watkins.
