George Reynolds was a professional boxer from Wales. Born in Swansea Reynolds was notable for becoming the Welsh lightweight champion in 1937. Boxing career Reynolds' first recorded professional bout is listed against Len Wickwar, a far more experienced fighter from Leicester. The match took place 20 October 1930 at Stourbridge, and although Reynolds was Welsh born, he was now boxing out of Wolverhampton in England, and rarely fought in his home country. Wickwar won on a points decision after the contest went the distance. Reynolds would face Wickwar at least six times throughout his professional career, losing all the encounters, five on points. George Reynolds (12 May 1936 – 13 April 2021) was a British businessman best known for his time as chairman of Darlington Football Club. He was found guilty of tax evasion in 2005. Football Reynolds became the chairman of Darlington Football Club in 1999 and built the team a new stadium costing £20 million, which he named after himself. Reynolds was originally very popular with fans but he then took the club into administration and left the club in January 2004, just months after the new 25,000-seat stadium (one of the largest stadiums outside the Premier League) was opened. The stadium was renamed shortly afterwards. George Reynolds (January 1, 1842 – August 9, 1909) was a general authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), a longtime secretary to the church's First Presidency, and a party to the 1878 United States Supreme Court case ''Reynolds v. George Reynolds (1839 - March 16, 1889) was a Union Army soldier during the American Civil War. He received the Medal of Honor for gallantry during the Battle of Opequon more commonly called the Third Battle of Winchester, Virginia on September 19, 1864. Biography Reynolds was born in Ireland in 1839. He enlisted in the US Army from New York City in October 1861, and mustered out in October 1864. After the war, he went on to study art under the great American painter Thomas Eakins and was a member of The Art Students' League of Philadelphia. He was included in several Eakins paintings and pioneering photographs. He was the subject of a famous portrait by Eakins, "The Veteran," now in the collection of Yale University. George Alfred Reynolds (26 November 1854 – 8 April 1939) was an artist and art teacher in South Australia. Reynolds was born the second son of Stephen James Reynolds of "Sandsworth", Birmingham, and studied at the Birmingham School of Art for six years, then was appointed him to one of the school's branches by head master Edward R. Taylor; shortly afterwards he gained the Art Master's Certificate in London. He accepted the position of first assistant in Adelaide's School of Design under H. P. Gill, which position he held 1887–1891. During that time, Mr. Reynolds was frequently employed by the Inspector-General of Schools to produce illustrations for the reading books used by State schools, then was appointed art master with the Education Department, supervising art examinations in city and suburban schools, and art instruction at the Teachers' Training College in Grote Street. George Lazenby Reynolds
George Lazenby Reynolds, Jr. (August 18, 1927 – November 3, 1991) was the ninth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee, serving from 1985 to 1991. He was the first bishop to serve the remnant diocese, encompassing the middle third of the state, after the separations of the Diocese of West Tennessee and the Diocese of East Tennessee from the original statewide judicatory, in 1983 and 1985, respectively. He maintained offices in Nashville, as the Tennessee diocese continues to do to this day. Biography Reynolds was born in Opelika, Alabama on August 18, 1927.
