George Percy (governor)
The Honourable George Percy ( – ) was an English people, English explorer, writer, and early Colonial Governor of Virginia. Early life Master George Percy (sometimes written as "Percie" or "Percye") was born in England, the youngest son of Henry Percy, 8th Earl of Northumberland and Lady Catherine Neville. He was sickly for much of his life, possibly suffering from epilepsy or severe asthma. He graduated from University of Oxford, Oxford University in 1597. While at university, he gained admission to Gloucester College, Oxford, Gloucester Hall and the Middle Temple. Percy's vocation was the military. His first service came in the Eighty Years' War, Dutch struggle for independence from Spain in the early 1600s. He also served in Ireland. George Percy, Earl Percy
George Dominic Percy, Earl Percy (born 4 May 1984), is a British businessman and the heir apparent to the Dukedom of Northumberland. Early life Percy was born as the second child and elder son of Ralph Percy, 12th Duke of Northumberland and his wife, the former Jane Richard. He is a younger brother of Lady Katie Percy and an older brother of Lady Melissa Percy and Lord Max Percy. He became heir apparent to the dukedom in October 1995, when his uncle Henry, 11th Duke of Northumberland, died. Percy's parents, now Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, were eager to protect him from "vices and pitfalls", and they filed a lawsuit to prevent him from inheriting £1 million and a £350,000 annual income upon turning 18. In 1999, they succeeded in delaying the inheritance, which Percy received at the age of 25. Percy is also set to inherit Alnwick Castle. George Percy, 5th Duke Of Northumberland
George Percy, 5th Duke of Northumberland PC (22 June 1778 – 22 August 1867), styled Lord Lovaine between 1790 and 1830 and known as the Earl of Beverley between 1830 and 1865, was a British Tory politician. He served as Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard under Sir Robert Peel between 1842 and 1846. He succeeded to his peerage on 12 February 1865, after the death of his childless cousin Algernon Percy. Background Born in London, he was the eldest son of Algernon Percy, 1st Earl of Beverley, second son of Hugh Percy, 1st Duke of Northumberland. His mother was Susan Isabella, daughter of Peter Burrell, while Algernon Percy, The Right Reverend Hugh Percy (Bishop of Rochester and Carlisle), Josceline Percy and William Henry Percy were his younger brothers. George Percy, 9th Duke Of Northumberland
Henry George Alan Percy, 9th Duke of Northumberland (15 July 1912 – 21 May 1940) was the son of Alan Percy, 8th Duke of Northumberland and Lady Helen Gordon-Lennox. He was educated at Eton College. He served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Lord Privy Seal in 1935. During his lifetime, the 9th Duke was considered one of Britain's most eligible bachelors. He was killed at Pecq in Belgium, serving with the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards during the retreat to Dunkirk. His body is interred in the Esquelmes War Cemetery. He was succeeded as Duke of Northumberland by his brother Hugh Percy, 10th Duke of Northumberland. A posthumous portrait by Oswald Birley is now displayed at the family seat of Alnwick Castle.
