George Papas
George Papas (; born March 15, 1998) is a Greek American professional basketball player for Panionios of the Greek Basketball League and the EuroCup. Standing at tall, he plays at the shooting guard position. Early life Papas was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Alexis Maloney and Greek-born Stefanos Papathanasiou. He has a brother years his elder named Tommy, who played for Mykonos in the Greek B Basket League and for William & Mary on college level. College career He reached the 1,000-point plateau for the Hawks in February against Marist. 2023 Greek Basketball Super Cup
The 2023 Greek Basketball Super Cup is the 4th edition of the revived Greek professional domestic basketball super cup competition, under the auspices of the Hellenic Basketball Clubs Association (HEBA), and the 5th overall. 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualification (Europe)
The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification for the FIBA Europe region, began in February 2020 and concluded in February 2023. The process determined the twelve teams that would qualify for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. On 9 December 2019, the World Anti-Doping Agency initially handed Russia a four-year ban from all major sporting events, after Russian Anti-Doping Agency, RUSADA was found non-compliant for handing over manipulating lab data and lying to investigators. WADA prohibited the use of the Flag of Russia, Russian flag and National anthem of Russia, anthem at major international sporting events. The Greece men's national basketball team () represents Greece in international basketball. They are controlled by the Hellenic Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Greece. Greece is currently ranked 13th in the FIBA World Ranking. Greece have appeared nine times at the FIBA World Cup, with their best result coming in 2006 as runners-up, after beating the United States 101–95 in the tournament's semi-final.
