George Papadakos
George Ioannis Papadakos (alternate spellings: Georgios, Giorgos; Greek: Γιώργος Ιωάννης Παπαδάκος) is a former Greek-Canadian professional basketball player and coach. High school and early years Papadakos was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He attended St. Michael's College School, in Toronto, where he played high school basketball. College career Papadakos first attended Syracuse University, from 1983 to 1985. While at Syracuse, he played college basketball in the NCAA Division I, with the Syracuse Orangemen, under the school's head coach, Jim Boeheim. He then transferred to Michigan State University, where he played with the Michigan State Spartans, under head Jud Heathcote, from 1986 to 1988. Papadakos averaged 10.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in his senior season with Michigan State. The EuroLeague is a European men's professional basketball club competition. The league is widely recognised as the top-tier and the most prestigious men's basketball league in Europe. The league consists of 20 teams, of which 16 are given long-term licences and wild cards, making the league a semi-closed league. The league was first organized by FIBA in 1958, subsequently by ULEB in 2000 and then solely by Euroleague Basketball. George Melvin "Jud" Heathcote (May 27, 1927 – August 28, 2017) was an American basketball player and coach. James Arthur Boeheim Jr. ( ; born November 17, 1944) is an American former college basketball coach and current Special Assistant to the Athletic Director at Syracuse University.
