George Hege Hamilton IV (July 19, 1937 – September 17, 2014) was an American country musician. He began performing in the late 1950s as a teen idol, switching to country music in the early 1960s. Biography Hamilton was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States, on July 19, 1937, the son of Moravian Church, Moravian parents George Hege Hamilton III and Mary Lilian (née Pendry). He was introduced to country music by his paternal grandfather, a railroad worker. His great-grandfather, the first George Hege Hamilton, was a farmer, of a family that came from Scotland to America in 1685. George Hamilton IV attended Richard J. George Hamilton-Gordon, 4th Earl of Aberdeen (28 January 178414 December 1860), styled Lord Haddo from 1791 to 1801, was a British statesman, diplomat and landowner, successively a Tory, Conservative and Peelite politician and specialist in foreign affairs. He served as Prime Minister from 1852 until 1855 in a coalition between the Whigs and Peelites, with Radical and Irish support. The Aberdeen ministry was filled with powerful and talented politicians, whom Aberdeen was largely unable to control and direct. Despite his efforts to avoid this happening, his ministry took Britain into the Crimean War, and fell when the war's conduct became unpopular. Subsequently, Aberdeen retired from politics. George Hamilton (1757–1832) was a Church of Scotland minister who served as Moderator of the General Assembly in 1805. Life He was born on 15 May 1757, the son of Rev John Hamilton (1714–1797) minister of Bolton, East Lothian and his wife Jean Wight of Dumfries. He was educated at the High School in Edinburgh and attended both Edinburgh University and Glasgow University. He graduated MA in 1775. He originally trained as a lawyer and entered the Inner Temple in London. After a strong change of heart, he decided to follow in his father's footsteps, becoming a minister of the Church of Scotland. He was licensed by the Presbytery of Haddington, East Lothian, Haddington in April 1788. In April 1790, he was ordained as minister of Gladsmuir in East Lothian, close to his home, under the patronage of King George III. George Hamilton (1699 Moderator)
George Hamilton of Cairns (1635–1712) was a Church of Scotland minister who served as Moderator of the General Assembly in 1699. Life He was born in the manse at Pittenweem in 1635 the eldest son of Rev. George Hamilton (d. 1673), the local minister. His father apparently translated to Newburn, Fife in 1636 and in 1637 appears with Alexander Henderson of Leuchars and James Bruce of Kingsbarns as three Fife ministers petitioning regarding the changes in the Book of Common Prayer. He studied at St Andrews University from 1649 graduating MA in 1653. In 1659 he was he ordained as a minister of the Church of Scotland, his first charge being Newburn in south Fife close to his birthplace. In the troubled times of the 1660s he was deprived of office in 1662 due to the Stuart Restoration. George Hamilton (born 2 January 1950) is an Irish broadcaster born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He is best known as the chief football commentator for RTÉ, for which he also commentates on other sporting events, such as the Olympic Games. He presents a classical music programme on RTÉ lyric fm on Saturdays and Sundays called ''The Hamilton Scores''. Early life and education Hamilton was christened in the same Presbyterian church as George Best. His father Jimmy played for Cliftonville F.C., but George was a Glentoran F.C. ‘superfan’. George Hamilton (7 December 1917 – May 2001) was a Scottish international footballer, who spent most of his 21-year career with Aberdeen. He also played for Queen of the South, Heart of Midlothian and Hamilton Academical. Starting his career at Irvine Meadow, Hamilton moved to Queen of the South, showcasing his ambidextrous skills and scoring nine goals in a single season, before joining Aberdeen in 1938. His playing career, disrupted by World War II, included time at Ayr United and Rangers, before returning to Aberdeen to achieve notable success including winning the Scottish Cup in 1947. Hamilton later played for Heart of Midlothian and returned to Aberdeen, contributing to their success until moving to Hamilton Academical, where he retired. George William Hamilton (1786 - 18 October 1857) was a planter in Jamaica. He was elected to the House of Assembly of Jamaica in 1820. According to the '' Legacies of British Slave-Ownership'' at the University College London, Hamilton was awarded a payment as a slave trader in the aftermath of the Slavery Abolition Act 1833 with the Slave Compensation Act 1837.
