George Brandis
George Henry Brandis (born 22 June 1957) is an Australian former politician. He was a Australian Senate, Senator for Queensland from 2000 to 2018, representing the Liberal Party of Australia, Liberal Party, and was a Cabinet (Australia), cabinet minister in the Abbott government, Abbott and Turnbull governments. He was later Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 2018 to 2022. Brandis studied law at the University of Queensland and Magdalen College, Oxford. Before entering politics he practised as a barrister. He was appointed to the Senate in 2000 to fill the Casual vacancy (Australian Parliament), casual vacancy caused by the resignation of Warwick Parer. The Liberal National Party of Queensland (LNP) is a major conservative political party in Queensland, Australia. It was formed in 2008 by a merger of the Queensland divisions of the Liberal Party and the National Party. In most other states, the two parties remain separate and distinct. Amanda Jane Stoker ( Fell; born 30 October 1982) is an Australian politician who served as a Australian Senate, Senator for Queensland from 2018 until 2022. Warwick Raymond Parer, AM (6 April 193614 March 2014) was an Australian politician who served as a Senator for Queensland from 1984 to 2000. Peter Robert Garrett (born 16 April 1953) is an Australian musician, environmentalist, activist and former politician. In 1973, Garrett became the lead singer of the Australian rock band Midnight Oil.
