Georg Ruby (born 16 December 1953) is a German jazz pianist, composer and arranger. He is also the founder of the record label . Ruby has recorded several albums with Michel Pilz. Diez, Germany
Diez an der Lahn is a town in Germany's Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate, on the borders of Hesse. Diez is the administrative seat of the municipality of Diez. Sitting on the confluence of the Lahn and Aar rivers, the town and the area have been inhabited by humans since the Stone Age. The old town is dominated by an eleventh century castle, now a youth hostel and museum. It is the ancestral home of the House of Nassau-Dietz, which in 1815 became the Dutch Royal Family. Geography Geographical Location The center of Diez is located four miles southwest of Limburg an der Lahn and 31 miles east of Koblenz. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazz has roots in European harmony and African rhythmic rituals. As jazz spread around the world, it drew on national, regional, and local musical cultures, which gave rise to different styles. Michel Pilz
Michel Pilz (born October 28, 1945, Bad Neustadt) is a German jazz clarinetist. Pilz was a student in clarinet at the Luxembourg Conservatory in the mid-1960s, then joined Manfred Schoof's ensemble in 1968, an association he would maintain into the 1980s. He also performed with the German All Stars in the 1970s and with the Globe Unity Orchestra, led by Alex Schlippenbach. He founded his own ensemble in 1972, playing with, among others, Peter Kowald, Paul Lovens, Buschi Niebergall, and Itaru Oki was a Japanese jazz trumpeter and flugelhornist. Oki was born in Kobe. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. It was launched in May 2002 by co-founders Laurence Donohue-Greene (Managing Editor) and Andrey Henkin (Editorial Director/Production Manager) under the name ''AllAboutJazz-New York''. The gazette’s name change switched permanently to ''The New York City Jazz Record'' as of March 2011.
