Georg Klein (composer)
Georg Klein (born 1 March 1964) is a German sound, video, and media artist, and a composer. Based in Berlin, he also lived in Rome, Los Angeles and Istanbul. Art work With a background in composition, Georg Klein has developed a multi-faceted artistic practice, in which he works with sound, video, text, and photography. In his installations and interventions – in particular those in public spaces – he intensifies the visual, acoustic, situational, and political aspects into an area of tension, in which visitors become involved, either on an interactive or participatory basis. The point of departure of his work is the investigation of sites and situations. He focuses on their inherent contradictions, which he transforms aesthetically so as to become a topic of discussion and deliberation. MaerzMusik
MaerzMusik is a festival of the Berliner Festspiele and has been held annually since 2002 in March at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and other venues. It is the successor festival to the Musik-Biennale Berlin and is considered one of the most important festivals for Neue Musik in Germany. The artistic director of MaerzMusik is Kamila Metwaly. Experimental music is a general label for any music or music genre that pushes existing boundaries and genre definitions. Experimental compositional practice is defined broadly by exploratory sensibilities radically opposed to, and questioning of, institutionalized compositional, performing, and aesthetic conventions in music. Elements of experimental music include indeterminate music, in which the composer introduces the elements of chance or unpredictability with regard to either the composition or its performance. Kehrer Verlag is an art book publisher based in Heidelberg, Germany, specializing in photography, fine art, and sound art. Its books are produced in cooperation with Kehrer Design, the affiliated office for design and image processing. History The publishing house was founded by Klaus Kehrer in Heidelberg in 1995. Since 2005, its headquarters was a loft in the Heinsteinwerk in Heidelberg, a former ceramic factory built in 1912. It has since moved.
