Georg Jakob Felsing
Georg Jakob Felsing (22 July 1802, Darmstadt - 9 June 1883, Darmstadt) was a German line-engraver. Life and work He was born at Darmstadt in 1802 and was first instructed by his father, Johann Conrad Felsing. Afterwards, he visited Italy and studied at Milan under Longhi, and at Florence the style of Raffaello Morghen. After residing some time at Naples he revisited Florence, and became a professor in the Academy of that city, and a member of the Academy of Milan. He returned to Darmstadt in 1832, when he was elected professor, and appointed engraver to the Court. During a stay in Paris he was influenced by the style of Desnoyers, and at Munich by the principles of the artists there. Felsing's plates show the talent of a great artist, and he worked with the graver in a clear and vigorous manner. He was also a member of the Academies of St. Petersburg, Berlin, and Vienna, and of the Institute of France. He died at Darmstadt in 1883. His most important works are: *''Christ on th ... Antonio Da Correggio
Antonio Allegri da Correggio (August 1489 – 5 March 1534), usually known as just Correggio (, also , , ), was the foremost painter of the Parma school of the High Italian Renaissance, who was responsible for some of the most vigorous and sensuous works of the sixteenth century. In his use of dynamic composition, illusionistic perspective and dramatic foreshortening, Correggio prefigured the Baroque art of the seventeenth century and the Rococo art of the eighteenth century. Giuseppe Crespi
Giuseppe Maria Crespi (March 14, 1665 – July 16, 1747), nicknamed Lo Spagnuolo ("The Spaniard"), was an Italian late Baroque painter of the Bolognese School. His eclectic output includes religious paintings and portraits, but he is now most famous for his genre paintings. Giuseppe Crespi, together with Giambattista Pittoni, Giovan Battista Tiepolo, Giovan Battista Piazzetta, Canaletto and Francesco Guardi forms the traditional great Old Masters painters of that period. Biography Crespi was born in Bologna to Girolamo Crespi and Isabella Cospi. His mother was a distant relation of the noble Cospi family, which had ties to the Florentine House of Medici. Heinrich Hofmann (painter)
Johann Michael Ferdinand Heinrich Hofmann (19 March 1824 – 23 June 1911) was a German painter of the late 19th to early 20th century. He was the uncle of the German painter Ludwig von Hofmann. He was born in Darmstadt and died in Dresden. He is best known for his many paintings depicting the life of Jesus Christ. Life Heinrich Hofmann grew up in a family that harbored a deep interest in art. His father, advocate Heinrich Karl Hofmann (1795–1845) painted in watercolors, his mother Sophie Hofmann, née Volhard (1798–1854) gave lessons in art before she married, and his four brothers all showed artistic talent. Eduard Steinbrück
Carl Eduard Steinbrück (2 May 1802, Magdeburg - 3 February 1882, Landeck) was a German history painter and etcher; associated with the Düsseldorf school. Biography His father was a merchant from Tangermünde and, in 1817, he became apprenticed to a businessman in Bremen. He eventually decided to follow his own inclinations and become a painter so, in 1822, he went to Berlin, where he worked in the studios of Wilhelm Wach. He produced his first independent paintings, on religious subjects, in 1825. In 1829, he moved to Düsseldorf, where he mingled with the local artists. He then went to Rome, where he joined the German art community, and stayed until 1830. Upon returning to Germany, he married Amalia Martens and settled in Berlin.
