Georg Eliassen
Georg Eliassen (1 July 1880 – 24 December 1964) was a Norwegian architect. Personal life Eliassen was born in Oslo, Kristiania to Anton G. Eliassen and Ragna Gundersen. In 1907 he married Helfrid Beda Andrea Strömberg. They were parents of Trond Eliassen and Arnt Eliassen. Their daughter married educator and politician Torolv Solheim. Career Eliassen was educated from the ''Kristiania tekniske skole'' and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He established an architect firm along with in 1914, and they were among the most prolific architects in Norway until the 1950s. He was decorated Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 1951. Trond Eliassen
Trond Eliassen (10 October 1922 – 13 November 2024) was a Norwegian architect. Biography Eliassen was born in Kristiania to architect Georg Eliassen and artist Helfrid Beda Andrea Strömberg, and is a brother of meteorologist Arnt Eliassen. In 1947 he started an architectural company jointly with Birger Lambertz-Nilssen. Their designs include the county hospitals of Vest-Agder, Aust-Agder and Telemark, the Sandefjord town hall, and the Norwegian Maritime Museum. Eliassen was decorated Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav The Royal Norwegian Order of Saint Olav (; or ''Sanct Olafs Orden'', the old Norwegian name) is a Norwegian order of chivalry instituted by King Oscar I on 21 August 1847. Arnt Eliassen
Arnt Eliassen (9 September 1915 – 22 April 2000) was a Norwegian meteorologist who was a pioneer in the use of numerical analysis and computers for weather forecasting. Career The early pioneer work was done at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, together with John von Neumann. His areas of research included free and thermally driven circulations, frontogenesis, and shear and gravitational–acoustic wave propagation in stratified media. Eliassen received the Carl-Gustaf Rossby Research Medal in 1964 for his many important contributions to dynamical meteorology. He received the Balzan Prize in 1996 "For his fundamental contributions to dynamic meteorology that have influenced and stimulated progress in this science during the past fifty years". Anton Eliassen
Anton Eliassen (born 11 November 1945) is a Norwegian meteorologist. He was born in Oslo to meteorologist Arnt Eliassen and Ellen-Kristine Nome. He graduated from the University of Oslo as cand. real. in 1970. He was assigned with the Norwegian Institute for Air Research from 1972 to 1977, was researcher at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute from 1978 to 1983, and was appointed professor at the University of Oslo from 1983. His research interests have focused on air pollution transport and climate modelling. Oslo
Oslo ( or ; ) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957.
