Geoffrey Taylor (rower)
Geoffrey Barron Taylor (February 4, 1890 – April 25, 1915) was a Canadian rower from Toronto who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics and the 1912 Summer Olympics. As a member of Toronto's Argonaut Rowing Club, he was stroke of the 1907 Junior four and eight at 17 years of age. That year, at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, he made history winning the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior fours as well as the Junior and Senior Eights. In all, five Henley wins in one day - a feat that has never been equaled over 100 years later. He was stroke of the Canadian boat which won the bronze medal in the coxless four in 1908, when he also stroked the Canadian eight which won the bronze medal behind Leander Club (gold) and Belgium (silver). Taylor was a student at Trinity College, Oxford University when World War I began. Geoffrey Phibbs
Jeoffrey "Geoffrey" Basil Phibbs (1900–1956) was an English-born Irish poet; he took his mother's name and called himself Geoffrey Taylor, after about 1930. Phibbs was born in Smallburgh, Norfolk. He was brought up in Sligo, and educated in England at Haileybury. In 1924 he married the artist Norah McGuinness, whom he divorced in 1930. Their marriage break-up was initially brought about by his involvement with the poet Laura Riding, The poetry collection ''The Withering of the Fig Leaf'' (1927) was to be published by the Hogarth Press. At the last moment Phibbs became concerned about perceived anti-Catholic sentiment in it, and asked Leonard Woolf to withdraw it. Another collection, ''It Was Not Jones'', was issued by Hogarth in 1928, but under the pseudonym R. Fitzurse. Geoff Taylor (born 1946 in Lancaster) is an English fantasy artist. Taylor has illustrated books for famous fantasy writers such as Robert Holdstock, Philip K. Dick, David and Leigh Eddings, Graham Edwards, Raymond E. Feist, Katharine Kerr, J. R. R. Tolkien, Roger Zelazny, and David Zindell. Geoffrey Thomas Taylour, 4th Marquess of Headfort DL, JP, FZS (12 June 1878 – 29 January 1943), styled Lord Geoffrey Taylour until 1893 and Earl of Bective between 1893 and 1894, was a British politician and Army officer. Career Styled Lord Geoffrey Taylour from birth, he was the son of Thomas Taylour, 3rd Marquess of Headfort, by his second wife Emily Constantia, daughter of the Reverend Lord John Thynne. He became known by the courtesy title Earl of Bective in 1893 on the death of his half-brother. The following year, aged 16, he succeeded his father in the marquessate. Lord Headfort was commissioned a second lieutenant in the 1st Life Guards on 4 January 1899, and promoted to lieutenant on 7 March 1900. He resigned from the regiment in May 1901.
