Geoffrey Cooke (cricketer)
Lt.-Col. Geoffrey Charles Sidney Bancroft Cooke (8 September 1897 – 4 December 1980) was an English first-class cricketer and British Army officer. Initially serving in the First World War with the Royal Garrison Artillery, he later attended the University of Cambridge following the conclusion of the war. After completing his studies, he served in the Royal Artillery from 1922–1948, serving in the Second World War. He also played first-class cricket for the British Army cricket team. Life and military career The son of Lt.-Col. Sidney FitzWyman Cooke and his wife, Alice Eliza Bancroft, he was born at Westminster and educated at Charterhouse School. After completing his education at Charterhouse, he served in the First World War with the Royal Garrison Artillery, enlisting as a second lieutenant in October 1916. Burke's Peerage Limited is a British genealogical publisher, considered an authority on the order of precedence of noble families and information on the lesser nobility of the United Kingdom. Coventry Evening Telegraph
The ''Coventry Telegraph'' is a local English tabloid newspaper. It is published by Coventry Newspapers Limited, a subsidiary of Reach PLC Midlands Ltd, along with a number of other local publications. Publication history It was founded as ''The Midland Daily Telegraph'' in 1891 by William Isaac Iliffe (1843–1917), and was Coventry's first daily newspaper. Sold for half a penny, it was a four-page broadsheet newspaper. In 1917, ownership of the paper changed to Iliffe's son Edward Iliffe (later 1st Baron Iliffe), upon the father's death. The only day the newspaper was unable to publish was 15 November 1940, owing to the blitz raid on the city. It changed its name to the ''Coventry Evening Telegraph'' on 17 November 1941. William Rudolph Michael Feilding, 11th Earl of Denbigh (2 August 1943 – 23 March 1995), known as Rollo Feilding and Rollo Denbigh, was a British peer, advertising executive, and racing driver. Family and early life Rollo Feilding was born on 2 August 1943 in Mere, Wiltshire. His father was William Feilding, 10th Earl of Denbigh and his mother was Verena Barbara Feilding, Countess of Denbigh (''née'' Price). He was educated at Eton College. The 2nd Glamorganshire Artillery Volunteers was a part-time unit of the British Army that defended the coast of South Wales from 1890 to 1942. Although it never saw action in its coastal defence role, it formed several siege batteries of heavy howitzers for service on the Western Front and Italian Front in World War I. Adjutant is a military appointment given to an Officer (armed forces), officer who assists the commanding officer with unit administration, mostly the management of “human resources” in an army unit.
