Geoff Muntz
Geoffrey Hugh Muntz (born 11 July 1938) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Beenleigh to Hugh Dunstan Muntz and Ethel Rebecca, ''née'' Doherty. He attended Pimpama State School and Queensland Agricultural High School before becoming a rural and urban valuer. He married Jean Saverin on 27 February 1960; they had four children. In 1961 he was appointed an inspector with the State Lands Department, and in 1964 became district manager of the State Agricultural Bank. A member of the National Party, he was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly in 1980 as the member for Whitsunday. In 1983 he was promoted to the front bench as Minister for Welfare Services, moving to Corrective Services, Administration Services and Valuation in 1986. In December of that year he was assigned to Tourism, National Parks and Sport, and then in 1987 to Environment, Conservation and Tourism. Queensland Legislative Assembly
The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting. The Assembly has 93 members, who have used the letters MP after their names since 2000 (previously they were styled MLAs). There is approximately the same population in each electorate; however, that has not always been the case (in particular, a malapportionment system - not, strictly speaking, a gerrymander - dubbed the ''Bjelkemander'' was in effect during the 1970s and 1980s). The Parliament of Queensland is the legislature of Queensland, Australia. As provided under the Constitution of Queensland, the Parliament consists of the Monarch of Australia and the Legislative Assembly. 1989 Queensland State Election
The 1989 Queensland state election was held in the Australian state of Queensland on 2 December 1989 to elect the 89 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. This was the first election following the downfall of seven-term premier Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen at the end of 1987. The government was led by Premier and leader of the National Party, Russell Cooper; the opposition was led by Opposition Leader and leader of the Labor Party, Wayne Goss, while the Liberal Party was led by Angus Innes. The National government, which had been in power since the 1957 election and had governed in its own right since the dissolution of the state coalition at the 1983 election, was defeated; the election was a landslide win for the Labor Party, which gained 24 seats. Beenleigh, Queensland
Beenleigh is a town and suburb in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. In the , the suburb of Beenleigh had a population of 8,252 people. A government survey for the new town was conducted in 1866. The town is the terminus for the Beenleigh railway line, which first opened in 1885 and a stop on the South Coast railway line, which reached Southport in 1889. Beenleigh was the administrative centre of the former Shire of Albert. It is known for the heritage-listed tourist attraction called the Beenleigh Artisan Distillery. In recent years it has seen many high rise developments. Geography Beenleigh and adjoining suburbs are located near the confluence of the Logan and Albert Rivers. Ron Camm
Ronald Ernest Camm (22 July 1914 – 15 March 1988) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Camm was born in Emerald, Queensland, the son of Jonathan Robert Camm and his wife Tassie (née Johnson). He was educated in Rockhampton and Mackay and began his working life for OE Neale in Mackay. After a time working as a labourer in Bloomsbury he became a canefarmer at Mount Julia.
