Geo Poggenbeek
George Jan Hendrik (Geo) Poggenbeek (1853–1903) was a 19th-century painter from Amsterdam, the Netherlands who maintained close contact with the Hague School. Biography Poggenbeek began painting at the age of nineteen, first studying under J. D. Veldhuizen and later working at the Amsterdam Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten. For a while he painted ducks and calves under willows exactly like Willem Maris, but he more lastingly influenced by Anton Mauve, whose soft, light tone and delicate quiet lyricism he shared. His tonality and composition also show the influence of Boudin, Corot and Jongkind. The Kunstmuseum Den Haag is an art museum in The Hague in the Netherlands, founded in 1866 as the Museum voor Moderne Kunst. Later, until 1998, it was known as Haags Gemeentemuseum, and until the end of September 2019 as Gemeentemuseum Den Haag. It has a collection of around 165,000 works, over many different forms of art. In particular, the Kunstmuseum is renowned for its large Mondrian collection, the largest in the world. Mondrian's last work, ''Victory Boogie-Woogie'', is on display at the museum. The current museum building was constructed between 1931–1935, designed by the Dutch architect H.P. Berlage. The Rijksmuseum () is the national museum of the Netherlands dedicated to Dutch arts and history and is located in Amsterdam. Arti et Amicitiae (lat .: For Art and Friendship) is a Dutch artist's society founded in 1839, and located on the Rokin in Amsterdam. The Society (also called Arti for short) has played a key role in the Netherlands art scene and in particular in the Amsterdam art schools. George Breitner
George Hendrik Breitner (12 September 1857 – 5 June 1923) was a Dutch painter and photographer. An important figure in Amsterdam Impressionism, he is noted especially for his paintings of street scenes and harbours in a realistic style. He painted en plein air, and became interested in photography as a means of documenting street life and atmospheric effects – rainy weather in particular – as reference materials for his paintings.
