Gentleman (1993 Film)
''Gentleman'' is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language heist action film directed by S. Shankar, in his directorial debut, and produced by K. T. Kunjumon. The film stars Arjun Sarja, alongside Madhubala, Subhashri, M. N. Nambiar, Manorama, Goundamani, Senthil, Charan Raj, Vineeth, and Rajan P. Dev. In the film, a respected Madras-based businessman moonlights as a thief to steal from the rich and give to the poor for their education. ''Gentleman'' was released on 30 July 1993 and the film became a commercial success, running for over 175 days in theatres. It won three South Filmfare Awards (including Best Film – Tamil and Best Director – Tamil), four Tamil Nadu State Film Awards (including Best Actor and Best Director) and five Cinema Express Awards. Balakumaran
Balakumaran (5 July 1946 – 15 May 2018) was an Indian Tamil language, Tamil writer and author of over 200 novels, 100 short stories, and dialogue/screenplay writer for 23 films. He also contributed to Tamil periodicals such as ''Kalki (magazine), Kalki'', ''Ananda Vikatan'' and ''Kumudam''. His notable works as a dialogue writer in Tamil Cinema include Nayakan, Gunaa, Guna, Baashha and Pudhupettai. Biography Balakumaran was born in Pazhamarneri village near Thirukattupalli in Thanjavur district on 5 July 1946. He was married to Kamala and Santha. They have daughter Gowri and son Venkataraman aka Surya. He was a disciple of Yogi_Ramsuratkumar, Yogi Ramsurat Kumar. Balakumaran died at the age of 71 due to prolonged illness in a private hospital on 15 May 2018. Nilgiri Mountain Railway
The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR), colloquially called the "Toy Train" by locals, is a railway in Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu, India, built by the British in 1908. The railway is operated by the Southern Railway and is the only rack railway in India. The railway relies on its fleet of steam locomotives. NMR switched to diesel locomotives on the section between Mettupalyam and Udhagamandalam. Local people and visitors led a campaign to return to steam locomotives in this section. In July 2005, UNESCO added the Nilgiri Mountain Railway as an extension to the World Heritage Site of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. The site then became known as Mountain Railways of India. ''The Gentleman'' is a 1994 Indian Hindi-language vigilante action film directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Allu Aravind, starring Chiranjeevi, Juhi Chawla, Harish Kumar and Paresh Rawal.
