Gennady Davydko (russian: Геннадий Давыдько, be, Генадзь Давыдзька, Hienadz Davydzka) is a Belarusian politician and TV propagandist, included in the sanctions list of the European Union in 2011 - 2016. Biography Gennady Davydko was born in Sianno, Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic (now Belarus). He grew up in the Russian Far East. He graduated from the Far Eastern Pedagogical Institute of Arts in Vladivostok, Russia as a drama producer, and from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. He started his career at the Maxim Gorky Drama Theatre in Orenburg, Russia. After military service, he worked as an actor in the Vincent Dunin-Marcinkievich Drama and Comedy Theatre in Mahiliou. In 1981 Davydko became an actor at the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theatre in Minsk. In 1997 later became the theatre's director. Syanno or Senno ( be, Сянно; russian: Сенно́; pl, Sienno; lt, Siano) is a city in Vitebsk Region, Belarus. It is southwest of Vitebsk on the southern shore of Senno Lake. 2010 Belarusian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Belarus on 19 December 2010. The elections were had originally been planned for the beginning of 2011. However, the final date was set during an extraordinary session of the National Assembly on 14 September 2010. Of the ten candidates, incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko was declared the winner by the Central Election Commission with 80% of the vote. Andrei Sannikov received the second-highest percentage. After a protest was violently suppressed by riot police the night after the elections, hundreds of protesters and seven presidential candidates were arrested by the KGB, including runner-up Sannikov. Western countries decried the election as a farce and an egregious affront to democracy and human rights. Belaya Rus ( be, Белая Русь, Bielaja Ruś, lit=White Rus') is a Belarusian public association founded on 17 November 2007 to support President Alexander Lukashenko. Since then, the organisation's leaders have regularly announced that they are ready to become a political party. President Lukashenko neither firmly opposed the idea, nor supported it. Belarus participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Cheesecake" written by Yuriy Vashchuk and Dmitry Novik. The song was performed by Teo, which is the artistic name of singer Yuriy Vashchuk. The Belarusian entry for the 2014 contest in Copenhagen, Denmark was selected through a national final organised by the Belarusian broadcaster National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (BTRC). The national final consisted of fourteen competing acts participating in a televised production where "Cheesecake" performed by Teo was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a jury panel and public televoting. Belarus was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 8 May 2014. Listapad ( be, Лістапад, ''meaning "November"''), also known as Minsk International Film Festival (MIFF) or Minsk International Film Festival Listapad, is an annual film festival which takes place in November in Minsk, Belarus. It is the largest such festival in Belarus.
