Generation Squeeze
Generation Squeeze (also known as GenSqueeze) is a Canadian, non-partisan, non-profit organization that advocates on behalf of young adults. The organization claims to have modeled itself after CARP (Canada), CARP, an organization that advocates for Canadians 45 and older. Generation Squeeze stated purpose is to provide a voice for younger Canadians in the world of politics and the marketplace. The organization has been involved in advocacy related to the issues of affordable childcare, housing, wages, transit, and government spending on youth. The organization also encourages youth involvement in politics and voting. In May 2015, the organization co-hosted the #donthave1million rally in Vancouver. In May 2016, the group launched its Code Red housing campaign in Vancouver, calling for a government rethink of housing policy. Generational Accounting
Generational accounting is a method of measuring the fiscal burdens facing current and future generations. Generational accounting considers how much each adult generation, on a per person basis, is likely to pay in future taxes net of transfer payments, over the rest of their lives. Laurence Kotlikoff's individual and co-authored work on the relativity of fiscal language demonstrates that conventional fiscal measures, including the government's deficit, are not well defined from the perspective of economic theory. Instead, their measurement reflects economically arbitrary fiscal labeling conventions. Canadian public debt, or general government debt, is the liabilities of the government sector. Government ''gross debt'' consists of liabilities that are a financial claim that requires payment of interest and/or principal in future. They consist mainly of Treasury bonds, but also include public service employee pension liabilities. Changes in government debt over time reflect primarily borrowing due to past government deficits (where a deficit occurs when government expenditures exceed revenues).
