General Treviño
General Treviño is a municipality in northern Mexico. General Treviño originated from a ranch named “El Puntiagudo” that was given to Don Juan Baptista Chapa on 14 January 1688. Don Francisco Chapa made the foundation in 1705. Its erection in the villa was verified on 9 December 1868, being Governor of the State Nuevo León, General Jerónimo Treviño; it belonged to the villas founded during the 19th century. The main reason for its foundation was agriculture. General Treviño is located northeast of the state of Nuevo León, in the region called “Gran Llanura de Norte America”, in the zone denominated “Fidenor”, located in the coordinates 26º28' of west longitude. The municipality has an elevation of above sealevel. Northern Mexico ( ), commonly referred as , is an informal term for the northern cultural and geographical area in Mexico. Depending on the source, it contains some or all of the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua (state), Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Sonora and Tamaulipas. There is no specific border that separates the northern states from the southern states in Mexico. Jerónimo Treviño
José Jerónimo de los Dolores Treviño y Leal (1835 – 1914), commonly known as Jerónimo Treviño was a prominent Mexican General and politician. He was a veteran of the Reform War and the Second French intervention in Mexico which he gained fame for his participation in several battles. After the fall of the Second Mexican Empire, Treviño served as the Governor of Nuevo León on several terms as well as the Secretary of War and Navy of Mexico from December 1, 1880, to December 31, 1881, under the cabinet of Manuel González Flores. Along with General Francisco Naranjo, he became the strong man of the northeast of the country, with the support of Governor Genaro Garza García. Agualeguas
Agualeguas is both a city and a municipality located in the northeastern part of the state of Nuevo León, Mexico, (). The name "Agualeguas" honors the first inhabitants of the region, the Gualegua tribe. It was recognized as a village on January 7, 1821, by the colonial government when Bro. Diego Velázquez declared it the village of "St. Nicholas of Gualeguas." The municipality has an area of 917.6 km2 and is located 180 meters above sea level. Ciudad Mier
Mier (), also known as ''El Paso del Cántaro'', is a city in Mier Municipality in Tamaulipas, located in northern Mexico near the Rio Grande, just south of Falcon Dam. It is northeast of Monterrey on Mexican Federal Highway 2. (26°28'N 99°10'W) In 1990, the population was recorded at 6,190. By the 2010 census, it had dropped to 4,762 inhabitants. It has an agricultural economy centered on cotton, sugar cane, corn, and livestock. History The town was founded on March 6, 1753. The land was originally owned by Felix de Almandoz. Tamaulipas

Melchor Ocampo
Melchor Ocampo (4 January 1814 – 3 June 1861) was a Mexican lawyer, scientist, and politician. A zambo and a radical liberal, he was fiercely anticlerical, perhaps an atheist, and his early writings against the Catholic Church in Mexico gained him a reputation as a leading liberal thinker. Ocampo has been considered the heir to José María Luis Mora, the premier liberal intellectual of the early republic.
