Gene Makowsky
Gene Makowsky (born April 17, 1973) is a Canadian politician and former Canadian football offensive lineman. He was a member of the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2024, representing the ridings of Regina Dewdney and Regina Gardiner Park as a member of the Saskatchewan Party. Prior to his political career, Makowsky played 17 seasons for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. Early life Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Makowsky graduated from high school at Walter Murray Collegiate in 1991. University of Saskatchewan During his 4 years at the University of Saskatchewan, Makowsky helped the U of S Huskies to two Hardy Cup Championships, as well as being named to the Canada West All Star team in 1994. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan () is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the lieutenant governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King of Canada. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through block voting. Canadian Football Hall Of Fame
The Canadian Football Hall of Fame (CFHOF) is a not-for-profit corporation, located in Hamilton, Ontario, that celebrates achievements in Canadian football. It is maintained by the Canadian Football League (CFL). It includes displays about the CFL, Canadian Interuniversity Sport football, Canadian university football and Canadian Junior Football League, Canadian junior football history. The Hall previously had a main feature in the central portion of the museum where the metal busts of inducted members were displayed prior to the physical building being closed. There were also featured displays that highlight each CFL team's history, and an interactive field goal kicking exhibit. Mark Cohon
Mark Steven Cohon, (born March 16, 1966) is a Canadian businessman who is the chairman of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS). He was also the 12th commissioner of the Canadian Football League. The son of McDonald's Canada founder George Cohon, he was appointed as commissioner in 2007 succeeding Tom Wright. Early life Cohon was born in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Toronto, Ontario when he was two years old. He holds both Canadian and American citizenship. The 95th Grey Cup was held in Toronto at the Rogers Centre on November 25, 2007. The Grey Cup, first awarded in 1909, is the championship game of the Canadian Football League. Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are a professional Canadian football team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Blue Bombers compete in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member club of the league's West Division (CFL), West division. They play their home games at Princess Auto Stadium. Roger Aldag
Roger Aldag (born October 6, 1953) is a Canadian former professional football offensive lineman who played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 1976 through 1992. He was part of the Grey Cup championship-winning Roughriders in 1989. Aldag currently holds the Roughrider record for games played with 271 regular season games and 5 play-off games. Aldag played for the Regina Rams in the Canadian Junior Football League from 1972 to 1975, during which time the Rams won two National Junior Football Championships (1973 and 1975). Hardy Trophy
The Hardy Trophy is a Canadian sport trophy, presented annually to the winner of the Canada West Universities Athletic Association Canadian football, Football Conference of U Sports, the country's governing body for university athletics. It is named for Evan Hardy, the former head of the agricultural engineering department at the University of Saskatchewan, who had played for the Huskies for its first five years before a rule that only students could play. Hardy continued on as coach and created a western university league. The original trophy was replaced in 1997 after it fell apart during an on-field celebration of the Huskies win in 1996 at home at Griffiths Stadium.
