Geir Holte
Geir Holte (born 3 October 1959) is a Norwegian cross-country skier. He was born in Drammen, and represented the club Hokksund IL. Drammen
Drammen () is a city and municipality in Viken, Norway. The port and river city of Drammen is centrally located in the south-eastern and most populated part of Norway. Drammen municipality also includes smaller towns and villages such as Konnerud, Svelvik, Mjøndalen and Skoger. Location Drammen is located west of the Oslofjord and is situated approximately 44 km South-west of Oslo. There are more than 101 000 inhabitants in the municipality, but the city is the regional capital of an area with 82 000 inhabitants. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1989
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1989 took place 17–26 February 1989 in Lahti, Finland, for a record fifth time (1926, 1938, 1958, 1978). The women's 5 km was not held after being reintroduced in the previous championships. These championships featured separate races of men's 15 km and women's 10 km both in the classical technique and in the freestyle technique. Additionally, the women's 15 km event debuted and the women's 20 km event was lengthened to 30 km. Pål Gunnar Mikkelsplass (born 29 April 1961) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier who competed from 1981 to 1997. He won the 15 km silver at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. Mikkelsplass also won the 15 km event at the Holmenkollen ski festival in 1981. Arild Monsen
Arlid Monsen (born 5 April 1962) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier who competed at international level from 1982 to 1985. He won the 4 × 10 km gold at the 1985 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 took place January 16–27, 1985 in Seefeld, Austria (near Innsbruck). This was the fourth time the Innsbruck area hosted these championships, having done so in 1933, the 1964 Winter Olympics, and the 1 ... in Seefeld and finished seventh in the 15 km event at same championship. Monsen's best individual career was fourth twice, reaching that mark once in 1983 and another time in 1984. After retiring from active competition, Monsen has worked as a cross-country coach, in Canada, Sweden and Norway. Lugnet, Falun
Lugnet is a large sport complex located in Falun, Sweden. 58 of the Swedish Sports Confederation's 67 special sports can be practiced there. There are six full sized indoor pitches in the area where everything from dance to association football can be played or performed. There are also two swimming pools (one indoors and one outdoors), a tennis hall, an athletics arena, an ice arena including one indoor ice hockey rink, an outdoor ice hockey rink, a bandy field and a curling hall. Lugnet is also Sweden's national cross-country skiing and ski jumping centre (the Lugnet Hills ski jump) and often hosts one part of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup. The 1987–88 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 7th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and ladies. The World Cup started in La Clusaz, France, on 12 December 1987 and finished in Rovaniemi, Finland, on 27 March 1988. Gunde Svan of Sweden won the overall men's cup, and Marjo Matikainen of Finland won the women's. The 1985–86 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 5th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and ladies. The World Cup began in Labrador City, Canada, on 7 December 1985 and finished in Oslo, Norway, on 15 March 1986. Gunde Svan of Sweden won the overall men's cup, and Marjo Matikainen of Finland won the women's. Before the season began, after several years of disagreements between athletes and federations concerning what styles of skiing should be allowed, it was decided that cross-country skiing should have two disciplines: classical and freestyle. The initiative to this idea was made by the Swedish skier Thomas Wassberg.
