Geike
Geike Arnaert (; born 13 September 1979) is a Belgian singer, best known for being the lead vocalist of the band Hooverphonic from 1997 until 2008 and again since 2020. Geike was born in Poperinge and grew up in Westouter, a town that is close to the French border. From a young age she was captivated by music and therefore she decided to audition for the Belgian band Hooverphonic, the group of guitarist Raymond Geerts and Alex Callier. Although Hooverphonic had been performing since the mid-90s, it wasn't until 2000 before they scored a hit in the Flemish Ultratop 50. With "Mad About You" the group spent 14 weeks in the charts, peaking at number 23. ''The Magnificent Tree,'' the album which contained "Mad About You", became an even bigger success in Belgium. Hooverphonic is a Belgian electronic band that was formed in October 1995. Though originally categorized as a trip hop group, they quickly expanded their sound to the point where it could no longer be described as a belonging to a single genre, but rather as encompassing alternative, electronica, electropop, rock, and a mixture of others. The band was originally named Hoover, but was later renamed Hooverphonic to avoid confusion with bands already using the Hoover name, and a possible legal copyright problem with the vacuum cleaner company. Since their formation, Hooverphonic's lineup consisted of bassist Alex Callier, guitarist Raymond Geerts, and various lead singers. ''The Magnificent Tree'' is the third studio album by the Belgian band Hooverphonic, released on 26 September 2000. The cover features the band in front of a tree in the town of Kieldrecht, Belgium. Four singles were released from the album: " Mad About You", "Vinegar & Salt", "Out of Sight" and "Jackie Cane". The "Vinegar & Salt" and "Out of Sight" singles contain "Green" and "Sunday Morning", respectively, tracks composed for ''The Magnificent Tree'' that did not make it onto the final release. By November 2002, the album had sold 265,000 copies worldwide, including 85,000 copies in Belgium alone. BLØF
BLØF is a Dutch rock band founded in Vlissingen, Zeeland, by bassist Peter Slager. It currently consists of Slager, Paskal Jakobsen (lead vocals and guitar), Bas Kennis (keyboards), and Norman Bonink (drums). Former members are drummers Henk Tjoonk and Chris Götte. The band's four members write the music together, but Slager is solely responsible for lyrics. BLØF has been recognised as "by far the most successful Dutch-speaking group of all time" and "the most successful Zeeland group". Heuvelland () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the villages of Dranouter, Kemmel, De Klijte, Loker, Nieuwkerke, Westouter, Wijtschate and Wulvergem. The Fairytale Forest (''Sprookjesbos'' in Dutch language, Dutch) is a wooded section of the amusement park Efteling in the Netherlands, where a number of well-known fairy tales and fairy tale figures are depicted by animatronics and buildings. Most of the figures are inspired by the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and Charles Perrault. History Concept and building The Fairytale Forest was founded on the work of R.J.Th. van der Heijden, Peter Reijnders and Anton Pieck. Van der Heijden conceived the idea in the 1950s to boost tourism. Efteling () is a fantasy-themed amusement park in Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands. The attractions reflect elements from ancient European myths and legends, fairy tales, fables, and folklore. Jérémie Makiese (; born 15 June 2000) is a Belgian singer and footballer, who rose to fame after winning ''The Voice Belgique 2021''. He represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "Miss You (Jérémie Makiese song), Miss You". Early life Makiese was born in Antwerp to people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Congolese parents.
