Langen, Cuxhaven
Langen bei Bremerhaven is a town and a former municipality in the Cuxhaven (district), district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 January 2015 it is part of the town Geestland. It is situated approximately 7 km north of the centre of Bremerhaven, and 30 km south of Cuxhaven. History Langen belonged to the Archdiocese of Bremen, Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen, established in 1180. In 1648 the Prince-Archbishopric was transformed into the Duchy of Bremen, which was first ruled in personal union by the Swedish Crown - interrupted by a Danish occupation (1712–1715) - and from 1715 on by the House of Hanover, Hanoverian Crown. Bad Bederkesa
Bad Bederkesa (Low German: ''Beers'') is a village and a former municipality in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 January 2015 it is part of the town of Geestland. It is situated approximately 20 km northeast of Bremerhaven, and 30 km southeast of Cuxhaven. Bad Bederkesa was the seat of the former ''Samtgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") Bederkesa, an administrative division consisting of several component municipalities. History Bad Bederkesa belonged to the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen (est. as principality of imperial immediacy in 1180). Elmlohe
Elmlohe is a village and a former municipality in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 January 2015 it is part of the town Geestland. It was a component municipality of the former Samtgemeinde Bederkesa. Toponymy and Coat of Arms Elmlohe derives from the homonymous ''elm'' tree and ''lohe'', which corresponds to the Old English ''lea'', in place names written ''leigh'' in today's spelling, or to Dutch loo , and signifies a glade or wood of glades. Elmlohe uses a canting coat of arms, showing three elm leaves on a blue ground. History Elmlohe emerged at the beginning of the 14th century, when the Bailiffs of Bederkesa erected a castle at the ''Quabben-Bach'' beck, a tributary of the Geeste (river). Flögeln
Flögeln is a village and a former municipality in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 January 2015 it is part of the town Geestland. History Flögeln belonged to the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen, established in 1180. The local prince-archiepiscopal vassals were the Ministeriales of Flögeln. Tozeur
Tozeur (; ) is a city in southwest Tunisia. The city is located northwest of Chott el Djerid, in between this Chott and the smaller Chott el Gharsa. It is the capital of Tozeur Governorate. It was the site of the ancient city and former bishopric Tusuros, which remains a Latin Catholic titular see. Cuxhaven (district)
Cuxhaven is a district (''Landkreis'') in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the east and clockwise) the districts of Stade, Rotenburg, Osterholz and Wesermarsch, the city of Bremerhaven and the North Sea. History The district was established in 1977 by merging the former districts of Land Hadeln and Wesermünde. The town of Cuxhaven lost its status as a district-free town and became the capital of the new district. Geography The district is often nicknamed Cuxland. It is located on the coast of the North Sea and is enclosed by the river mouths of Elbe and Weser. The coasts are part of the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park.
