Gautham Karthik
Gautham Ram Karthik (born 12 September 1989) is an Indian actor who works in Tamil language, Tamil-language films. He made his acting debut in Mani Ratnam's ''Kadal (2013 film), Kadal'' (2013). He is a recipient of one Filmfare Award South, a Tamil Nadu State Film Award and a SIIMA Award. Early life and background Gautham Karthik was born on 12 September 1989 to actor Karthik (actor), Karthik and his first wife, actress Ragini. Gautham's parents split when he was aged nine, and he subsequently grew up with his mother in Udhagamandalam, Ooty, while his father only visited him once a year. He graduated from Christ University, Bangalore, when film-maker Mani Ratnam approached him with an offer. He holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology, English & Media. ''Rangoon'' is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language action crime film written and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy in his directoral debut and produced by A. R. Murugadoss. The film stars Gautham Karthik and Sana Makbul. It was the fifth joint venture of AR Murugadoss Productions and Fox Star Studios. The film turned out to be the first hit film for Gautham Karthik. Plot Venkat (Gautham Karthik) hails from the Burmese city of Rangoon, which has now been renamed Yangon by the regime. He lives as a Tamil Burma repatriation in a neighbourhood called Annai Sivagami Nagar also known as Burma Nagar in Ennore, Chennai. His family, in search of a better livelihood, has migrated from his birthplace to a neighbourhood of Chennai, where many other Tamil-Burma repatriates live. ''Raavan'' is a 2010 Indian Hindi-language action-adventure film co-written and directed by Mani Ratnam, who also co-produced the film. It stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram (actor), Vikram while Govinda (actor), Govinda, Nikhil Dwivedi, Ravi Kishan and Priyamani are in pivotal roles. It marks the Hindi film debuts of Vikram and Priyamani. The film follows the crux of the epic ''Ramayana'', but with a modernized plot that reveals the perspective of Ravana.
