Gaura is a constituency of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, covering the city of Gaura and other parts of Mankapur tehsil in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Gaura is one of five assembly constituencies in the Gonda Lok Sabha constituency. Since 2012, this assembly constituency is numbered 301 amongst the 403 constituencies and the first election was held in this constituency was in 2012 after dissolving the Saddulahnagar Assembly constituency. Maharaj Anand Singh (born 4 January 1939) is an Indian politician who was elected as a Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Member of Parliament to 5th Lok Sabha, 5th, 7th Lok Sabha, 7th, 8th Lok Sabha, 8th and 9th Lok Sabha from the Gonda (Lok Sabha constituency), Gonda constituency. Since 2013, None of the Above, abbreviated as NOTA, has been included as a choice on ballot papers in most Indian elections. By expressing a preference for none of the above, a voter can choose not to endorse any candidate in the elections. Gonda District
Gonda district is one of the districts of Uttar Pradesh, India. The city of Gonda is the district headquarters, and also the administrative centre for the Devipatan Division. The total area of Gonda district is . History Gonda was originally part of the Nizamat of Gorakhpur, but after Gorakhpur was ceded to the British in 1801, Gonda was united with Bahraich district. It was created as a separate district by the British when they annexed Awadh in 1856.
