Gauntlet Track
Gauntlet track or interlaced track, also gantlet track () is an arrangement in which Rail tracks, railway tracks run parallel on a single track bed and are interlaced (i.e., overlapped) in such a way that only one pair of rails can be used at any time. Since this requires only slightly more Structure gauge, width than a Single track (rail), single track, all rails can be carried on the same Railroad tie, crossties/sleepers. Trains run on the pair of rails appropriate to their direction, track gauge or loading gauge. The term ''Gauntlet (glove), gauntlet'' refers to the expression ''running the gauntlet'', which means running between two confining rows of adversaries. Bordeaux Railway Bridge
The Bordeaux Railway Bridge is a railway bridge on the Canadian Pacific Railway line across the Rivière des Prairies between Ahuntsic-Cartierville, on Montreal Island, and Laval-des-Rapides, Laval, Quebec, Canada. This bridge is used by freight trains of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), the Chemins de Fer Québec-Gatineau (CFQG) and by passenger suburban trains of Exo's Saint-Jerome line. A four-rail gauntlet track is still in use on this bridge because the horizontal structure gauge is not sufficiently wide for a regular double track. Ion Rapid Transit
Ion, stylized as ION, is an integrated public transportation network in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. It is operated by Keolis and is part of the Grand River Transit (GRT) system, partially replacing GRT's Route 200 iXpress bus service. The section of the bus route serving Cambridge has been renamed "Ion Bus", and renumbered as 302. The first phase commenced operations on June 21, 2019, between the north end of Waterloo and the south end of Kitchener. A future extension of light rail to the downtown Galt area of Cambridge (Phase 2) is planned but construction may not begin on that line until 2028. Union (NJT Station)
Union is a NJ Transit railroad station in Union, New Jersey. Located on the Conrail Lehigh Line, Union is served by Raritan Valley Line trains that travel between Newark Penn Station and Raritan. There is also limited service to and from High Bridge and New York Penn Station and one morning train to Hoboken Terminal. Raritan Valley Line
The Raritan Valley Line is a commuter rail service operated by New Jersey Transit (NJT) which serves passengers in municipalities in Union, Somerset, Middlesex, Essex, and Hunterdon counties in the Raritan Valley region, primarily in central New Jersey and a smaller portion of northern New Jersey, in the United States. The line's most frequent western terminus is Raritan station in Raritan. Some weekday trains continue farther west and terminate at the High Bridge station, located in High Bridge. Conrail
Conrail , formally the Consolidated Rail Corporation, was the primary Class I railroad in the Northeastern United States between 1976 and 1999. The trade name Conrail is a portmanteau based on the company's legal name. It continues to do business as an asset management and network services provider in three Shared Assets Areas that were excluded from the division of its operations during its acquisition by CSX Corporation and the Norfolk Southern Railway. Catch Points
Catch points and trap points are types of railroad switch, points which act as railway safety devices. Both work by guiding railroad car, railway carriages and trucks from a dangerous route onto a separate, safer track. Catch points are used to derailment, derail vehicles which are out of control (known as Runaway train, ''runaways'') on steep slopes. Trap points are used to protect rail terminology#M, main railway lines from unauthorised vehicles, moving onto them from rail siding, sidings or branch lines. Either of these track arrangements may lead the vehicles into a sand drag or safety siding, track arrangements which are used to safely stop them after they have left the main tracks. Railroad Weigh Scale
A truck scale (US), weighbridge (non-US) or railroad scale is a large set of scales, usually mounted permanently on a concrete foundation, that is used to weigh entire rail or road vehicles and their contents. By weighing the vehicle both empty and when loaded, the load carried by the vehicle can be calculated. The key component that uses a weighbridge in order to make the weigh measurement is load cells.
