The Gateway (Salt Lake City)
The Gateway is a large, open-air retail, residential, and office complex in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. It is centered on the historic Union Pacific Depot on the west side of Downtown Salt Lake City between 50 North and 200 South streets and between 400 and 500 West streets. Rio Grande Street has been the site of many special events and becomes a one-way street and heads north through the center. The center has featured as many as 89 outlets, but recent changes have allowed the center to provide new retail shopping experiences like and become more of a social gathering place centered on dining and nightlife. Gateway Fashion Mall (formerly Gateway Mall) is an enclosed shopping mall in Bismarck, North Dakota. Opened in 1979, the mall has more than 30 stores. The anchor stores are Harbor Freight Tools, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Planet Fitness and Mid Dakota Clinic. There are 2 vacant anchor stores that were once Sears and Conlin's Furniture. The mall's AMC Theatres location closed its door at the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic and has since been replaced by a church. History Previous to a mall, the area was occupied by the town dump. Pine Ridge Marketplace (formerly Prescott Gateway Mall) is a single-level enclosed shopping mall in Prescott, Arizona, United States. Opened on March 8, 2002, it includes JCPenney and Dillard's among its anchor stores. History Westcor first announced plans to build a mall east of Prescott on Arizona State Route 69 in 1998. The decision was met with local opposition from members of the community, and petitioned for a referendum after city council approved a change in zoning. Under Westcor's original plans, the proposed mall would have JCPenney, Sears and Dillard's as anchor stores. The former two stores were already anchors at an existing mall, Ponderosa Plaza, but the managers of both stores considered their existing locations too small.
