Gateway Athletic Conference
The Gateway Athletic Conference is a Missouri State High School Activities Association recognized high school extracurricular league which includes sixteen schools located in the suburbs of St. Louis. The conference is divided into three divisions based on enrollment. The North division includes schools with smaller enrollment, the Central division for medium enrollment schools, and the South division for larger enrollment schools. Missouri State High School Activities Association
The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) is the governing body for high school activities throughout the state of Missouri. Approximately 580 high schools are members of MSHSAA. The MSHSAA conducts championship-level activities in 23 activities. At least 50 member high schools must sponsor a sport for an official championship series to be conducted. Sports such as boys volleyball, field hockey, girls lacrosse, boys softball, and water polo are considered "emerging sports" by MSHSAA, but an official postseason series does not exist with less than 50 schools involved in those activities. MSHSAA also administers sideline cheerleading and dance team activities. Liberty (Wentzville) High School
Liberty High School is the third high school built in the Wentzville School District in Missouri, United States. The building opened for its first year in 2013. The enrollment for the first year was under 300 students, and consisted of a freshman class due to graduate in May 2017. Liberty has now grown to all grade levels. Academics Liberty has an Academic Assist program after school for those struggling in classes. Students can get help from teachers with one-on-one assistance. Liberty also participates in the Missouri A+ program. Students who achieve the seven A+ state requirements are eligible for tuition reimbursement and general fee reimbursement to attend any community college or technical school in the state of Missouri. Troy, Missouri
Troy is a city in Lincoln County, Missouri, United States. As of 2019, the estimated population was 12,820. It is the county seat of Lincoln County. Troy is an exurb of St. Louis, and is part of the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Troy was platted in 1819. Some say the community was named after Troy, New York, while others believe the name is a transfer from Troy, Vermont. An early variant name was Woods Fort. Troy Buchanan High School
Troy Buchanan High School (formerly Buchanan High School) is a 3-year public high school in Troy, Missouri, United States that is part of the Lincoln County School District. The school is named after local merchant Alexander Buchanan, who donated a $1,500 endowment and the land for Buchanan College (which would sell property to the local school district upon closure) to be built. History After Buchanan College sold their property in Troy to the local school district in 1905, Buchanan High School was founded in fall 1914. A 1916 referendum proposed to build a gymnasium on to the existing school building. That location was used until 1956, when classes were moved to a new location. Timberland High School is the second largest of the four high schools in the Wentzville R-IV School District and fourth largest high school in St. Charles County, Missouri. The school was established as an annex in 2000 and as an independent high school in 2002. The 2020-21 enrollment was 1,845. History The facility now known as Timberland High School opened on August 28, 2000 as an annex to Wentzville Holt High School for approximately 400 freshmen and sophomores within the boundaries covering the southern portion of the school district. Fort Zumwalt West High School, the third high school established in the Fort Zumwalt School District, is located in O'Fallon, Missouri. Francis Howell North High School
Francis Howell North High School is a secondary school located in St. Charles, Missouri. The school's mascot is Norm the Knight. History After Francis Howell High School alone could no longer support the burgeoning population of its part of St. Charles County in 1983, Henderson Junior High School was built on Hackmann Road on the border of the cities of St. Charles and St. Peters. Henderson was eventually expanded and the name was changed to Francis Howell North High School and began taking high school students in 1986. The school is located in Cottleville, Missouri, but a large part of its student population comes from its larger neighbor St. Peters. Weldon Spring, Missouri
Weldon Spring is a city in St. Charles County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,443 at the 2010 census. History Weldon Spring was platted in 1864. The community took its name from a spring of the same name near the original town site. A post office called Weldon Spring was established in 1875, and remained in operation until 1957. In 1941, the United States Army purchased 17,000 acres of land in the surrounding area. The Weldon Spring Ordnance Works built the largest explosives factory in the United States on the site. It was built to produce TNT and DNT for Allied forces during World War II. It closed on August 15, 1945, days after the end of the war. Most of the land was then sold. A proposal appeared in 1945 suggesting the placement of United Nations Headquarters in the area.
