Gary Elkerton
Gary Elkerton (born 21 August 1964), known as Kong is an Australian surfer, three time world masters champion (2000–01, 2003), three time world professional runner-up (1987, 1990, 1993), twice Hawaiian Triple Crown champion (1987, 1989) and Australian amateur champion (1984). He is regarded as an iconic big-wave rider and is highly respected by his peers for his unique, powerful surfing style. In 2009, Gary was inducted into the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame. Youth Elkerton was born in Ballina, northern New South Wales, the first child of Keith and Joan. The Elkertons owned a prawn (shrimp) fishing trawler which ranged from Karumba in the Gulf of Carpentaria, down the length of the Great Barrier Reef to the river ports of northern NSW. Ballina () is a town in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia, and the seat of the Ballina Shire local government area. Ballina's urban population at June 2018 was 26,381. The town lies on the Richmond River and serves as a gateway to Byron Bay. History Ballina is located on the ancestral land of the Bundjalung people, the original inhabitants. Kelly Slater
Robert Kelly Slater (born February 11, 1972) is an American professional surfer, best known for being crowned World Surf League champion a record 11 times. Slater is widely regarded as the greatest professional surfer of all time. Slater is also the oldest surfer still active on the World Surf League. Early years and personal life Slater grew up in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where he still lives. He is the son of Judy Moriarity and Stephen Slater. Bede Durbidge
Bede Durbidge (born 23 February 1983) is an Australian professional surfer competing on the World Surf League World Tour. Durbo, Bej and The White Fijian are his nicknames. Life Bede Durbidge was born in Brisbane, Queensland and grew up in Point Lookout, on North Stradbroke Island. He began in the Australasian Junior Series, and after four years in the World Qualifying Series joined the World Championship Tour in 2005. As a professional, his strongest achievement is winning the Boost Mobile Pro in Trestles, San Clemente, California. Only five waves was enough for him to defeat the seven-time champion Kelly Slater. He later came in second in the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast of 2007. His best season was 2008, where he finished the ASP world tour as the runner-up overall. Seignosse
Seignosse (; oc, Senhòssa) is a commune in the Landes department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. Population Tourism and leisure Surfing Seignosse is prized for surfing. With Biarritz and Hossegor, Seignosse is one of the historic place of birth for surfing in France (head office of the "Fédération Française de Surf" from 1977 to 1984). Surfers from all over the world know today the surf spots of Hossegor/Seignosse/Capbreton. Seignosse has about thirty surf schools. Bundoran () is a town in County Donegal, Ireland. The town is located near the N15 road near Ballyshannon, and is the most southerly town in Donegal. Marco Jay Luciano "Mark" Occhilupo (born 16 June 1966) is an Australian surfer and winner of the 1999 ASP World title. Occhilupo, also known as "Occy", began his professional career in the World Championship Tour (WCT) at the age of 17. In September 2019, he made a brief return to the international surfing circuit and took part in the So Sri Lanka Pro 2019 tournament which also marked his first visit to the country. Martin Potter (surfer)
Martin "Pottz" Potter (born October 28, 1965 in Blyth, Northumberland, England), is a former professional surfer. Early life Potter's parents emigrated to Durban, South Africa when he was two years old. He began surfing off the beaches of his hometown Durban at age 10. By the age of 15, he was surfing 20+ foot waves at the infamous “ Banzai Pipeline” surf break located on Hawaii's North Shore. At the time, he was using the assistance of a jet-ski to 'tow-in' to the wave as an alternative to paddling. This pre-dated modern tow-in surfing and can help lay claim to Potter being one of 'tow-in' surfings pioneers. In his late teens his parents moved back to the UK to live.
