Garrick Tremain
Garrick Tremain (born 1941) is a New Zealand cartoonist and painter living in Queenstown. Biography He has been a professional painter since 1972 and a cartoonist since 1988. Tremain has produced a cartoon six or seven days a week for various New Zealand newspapers, including the ''Otago Daily Times'', apart from a few months of semi-retirement from February 2007, when he produced weekly cartoons. He has been a finalist for the Qantas Media Awards Cartoonist in 2000 and 2004. Controversy On 3 December 2019 the ''Otago Daily Times'' published a cartoon by Tremain making light of the measles epidemic in Samoa. At that point the epidemic had killed 53 people, almost exclusively small children. Jason Peter "Jay" Garrick is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He is the first character known as the Flash. The character first appeared in ''Flash Comics'' #1 (January 1940), created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert. Jordon D'Andre Garrick (born 15 July 1998) is a Jamaican professional footballer who plays as a winger for Forest Green Rovers. Born in Jamaica, he moved to England as a child where he began playing football and eventually joined Ossett Albion. In November 2015, he joined Swansea City and made his professional debut four years later. John Garrick (born Reginald Dandy; 31 August 1902 – 22 October 1966) was a British stage and screen actor. Born in Brighton, England, Dandy attended that city's schools and Brighton College. Jack Garrick
John Andrew Frank Garrick (24 March 1928 – 30 August 2018) was a New Zealand ichthyologist. Career Garrick specialised in elasmobranchs and published many books and articles about shark and ray biology. In 1982, he published a thorough taxonomy on sharks of the genus ''Carcharhinus'', where he identified the smoothtooth blacktip shark as a new species. He is the species authority for several types of sharks, including the New Zealand lanternshark. Garrick was a zoology professor at Victoria University of Wellington, appointed to a personal chair in 1971. Garrick had a primary interest in the taxonomy of sharks and rays, and carried out the first exploratory deep-sea sampling using specially adapted cone nets, baited traps, and longlines, regularly to depths greater than 2000 metres. Horrie Garrick
Horace James Garrick (26 August 1918 – 6 April 1982) was an Australian politician. He was an Australian Labor Party member of the Australian House of Representatives from 1969 to 1977, representing the electorate of Batman. Garrick was born in Melbourne and educated at Hawthorn West Central School and Swinburne Technical College. He became a professional athlete and was at one stage state quarter-mile champion, before becoming a mechanical engineering draftsman and establishing his own manufacturing business. He was elected as a City of Collingwood councillor in 1957 and was mayor from 1960 to 1961 and from 1968 to 1969. Garrick was also a commissioner of the Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works from 1964 to 1963. Francis James Garrick (1833 – 7 June 1890) was a barrister and politician from Christchurch, New Zealand. Early years Garrick was the oldest of ten children of James Francis Garrick (b. 1803 in Deptford, Kent, England; d. 1874 in Sydney) and Catherine Eliza Garrick (née Branson, b. 1811 in Gibraltar; d. 1900 in Woollahra, New South Wales, Woollahra, Australia). His parents were married on 10 June 1832 in St Martin-in-the-Fields, Surrey, England. They subsequently emigrated to Sydney to manage a flour milling business. Garrick was born in 1833.
