Garnett Stackelberg
Garnett Stackelberg (born 5 January 1910, Chadron, Nebraska: d.12 January 2005, Georgetown) was an American journalist and socialite. Garnett Butler was born in Nebraska on 5 January 1910. Her father was a building contractor and her mother was a teacher. Garnett attended Oregon State University before travelling to Shanghai in 1932, where she worked at the US Consulate. After surviving house arrest under the Japanese occupation, she left her first husband, and settled in Washington, D.C., where she became a successful journalist, lecturer and society hostess. Chadron, Nebraska
Chadron ( ) is a city and the county seat of Dawes County, in the state of Nebraska in the Great Plains region of the United States. The population was 5,851 at the 2010 census. This city is the location of Chadron State College. Chadron also is the United States Forest Service headquarters of the Nebraska and Samuel R. McKelvie National Forests, and the Buffalo Gap, Fort Pierre, and Oglala National Grasslands. The Museum of the Fur Trade is located near Chadron, at the site of the American Fur Company's former Bordeaux Trading Post.
