Garik Israelian
Garik Israelian (, born 1963) is an Armenian-Spanish astrophysicist and co-founder of the Starmus Festival. In 1999, Israelian and colleagues presented the first observational evidence that supernova explosions were responsible for the formation of stellar-mass black holes. Early life and education Garik Israelian was born in 1963 in Yerevan in then-Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Armenia. Preferring music over studying, he quit school at the age of 16, playing rock guitar in bars. Israelian credits sci-fi film ''Solaris (1972 film), Solaris'' for piquing his interest in science fiction and inspiring him to go to university. He studied astrophysics under Viktor Ambartsumian at Yerevan State University, graduating in 1987 and completing his Ph.D. in 1992. Garik Yurievich Martirosyan (, ; born February 13, 1974) is a Russia-based Armenian entertainer, comedian, TV host, actor and singer. He is the co-producer and host of the Comedy Club Russia which airs on Russian TV channel TNT. He was also one of 4 hosts of '' Prozhektorperiskhilton'' broadcast on Channel One. Biography Garik Martirosyan was born on February 14, 1974, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, Soviet Union. In 2002, he graduated from Yerevan State Medical University with a degree in neurology. He worked three years in a psychological hospital. From 1993 to 2002, he was a member (captain from 1997) of the team of the Russian TV show KVN. Igor Ivanovich "Garik" Sukachov (; 1 December 1959) is a Russian musician, singer-songwriter, poet, actor, film director and TV presenter. Career Igor Ivanovich Sukachov was born in the Moscow suburb of Myakinino (now Tushino). His father fought in World War II, having fought throughout the war from Moscow to Berlin. His mother was a Nazi concentration camp survivor. Having graduated the railway technical college, Sukachyov became a transport engineer and even took part in designing the Tushino railway station. However, an abrupt change of mind brought him to study theater at the Lipetsk Culture and Education College, which he graduated in 1977 with a theater director diploma. Jiří Trnka (; 24 February 1912 – 30 December 1969) was a Czechoslovak puppet-maker, illustrator, motion-picture animator and film director. In addition to his extensive career as an illustrator, especially of children's books, he is best known for his work in animation with puppets, which began in 1946. Most of his films were intended for adults and many were adaptations of literary works. Because of his influence in animation, he was called "the Walt Disney of Eastern Europe", despite the great differences between their works.
