Gareth David James (born 1 December 1984) is an English cricketer. James is a right-handed batsman who bowls leg breaks. He was born at Walthamstow, London. James was contracted on to the Essex CCC Academy and throughout that time made his List A debut for the Essex Cricket Board against the Surrey Cricket Board in the 2nd round of the 2003 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy which was held in 2002. His second and final List A match for the Board came against Essex in the 3rd round same competition which was played in 2003. In his 2 List A matches, he scored 52 runs at a batting average of 51.00, with a single half century high score of 51 *. In 2004, James made his first-class debut for CUCCE against Warwickshire. Walthamstow ( or ) is a large town in east London, England, within the ceremonial county of Greater London and the ancient county of Essex. Batting Average (cricket)
In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). The number is also simple to interpret intuitively. If all the batter's innings were completed (i.e. they were out every innings), this is the average number of runs they score per innings. The National Counties Cricket Association Knockout Cup was started in 1983 as a knockout one-day competition for the National Counties in English cricket. At first it was known as the ''English Industrial Estates Cup'', before being called the ''Minor Counties Knock Out Competition'' from 1986 to 1987, the ''Holt Cup'' from 1988 to 1992, the ''MCC Trophy'' from 1993 to 1998, the ''ECB 38-County Cup'' from 1999 to 2002, the ''MCCA Knockout Trophy'' from 2003 to 2005. The NCCA 3 Day Championship (previously the Minor Counties Cricket Championship) is a season-long competition in England and Wales that is contested by the members of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), the so-called national counties that do not have first-class status. Caught is a method of dismissing a batsman in cricket. A batsman is out caught if the batsman hits the ball, from a legitimate delivery, with the bat, and the ball is caught by the bowler or a fielder before it hits the ground. If the ball hits the stumps after hitting the wicket-keeper, If the wicket-keeper fails to do this, the delivery is a "no ball", and the batsman cannot be stumped (nor run out, unless he attempts to run to the other wicket.) Badureliya Sports Club
Badureliya Sports Club is a first-class cricket team in Sri Lanka. It plays its home matches at Surrey Village Cricket Ground, Maggona. In late 2008, the club threatened to boycott the Sri Lankan domestic tournaments due to their objections to being relegated to Tier B from their position in Tier A. The club later backed down from their stance, and defeated Nondescripts Cricket Club by an innings and two runs. Between 2005–06, when they first appeared in first-class cricket, and late December 2015, Badureliya Sports Club played 97 first-class matches, for 13 wins, 37 losses and 47 draws.
