Garak-dong
Garak-dong () is a '' dong'' (neighborhood) of Songpa District, Seoul, South Korea. The exact etymology is unknown but said that the town was once called ''garakgol'' (). Overview Garak-dong was originally part of Garak-ri, Jungdae-myeon, Gwangju-gun, starting in 1577. It became Garak-dong when it was incorporated into Seoul during the city's administrative expansion on January 1, 1963. On October 1, 1975, it was transferred to Gangnam-gu, and then to Gangdong-gu on October 1, 1979. On January 1, 1988, Garak-dong became part of the newly established Songpa-gu. The neighborhood's name comes from "Garakgol," an old place name in the area. In October 1989, the northern area of Yangjae-daero was included in Songpa-dong. Gaya Confederacy
Gaya (; ) was a Korean confederacy of territorial polities in the Nakdong River basin of southern Korea, growing out of the Byeonhan confederacy of the Samhan period. The traditional period used by historians for Gaya chronology is AD 42–532. Geumgwan Gaya, the ruling state of the confederacy, was conquered in 532 and the last holdout, Daegaya fell in 562. According to archaeological evidence in the third and fourth centuries some of the city-states of Byeonhan evolved into the Gaya confederacy, which was later annexed by Silla, one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. The individual polities that made up the Gaya confederacy have been characterized as small city-states. The material culture remains of Gaya culture mainly consist of burials and their contents of mortuary goods that have been excavated by archaeologists. Elim Garak ( ) is a fictional character from the television series ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'', in which he is portrayed by Andrew Robinson (actor), Andrew J. Robinson. In the series, Garak is an exiled spy from the Cardassia Prime, Cardassian Union and a former member of the feared Cardassian Intelligence agency, intelligence group called the Obsidian Order. Garak was exiled to the space station that became known as Deep Space Nine (space station), ''Deep Space Nine'' and established a tailoring business there.
