Garcia (album)
''Garcia'' is the first solo album by the Grateful Dead's guitarist Jerry Garcia, released in January 1972. Warner Bros. Records offered the Grateful Dead the opportunity to cut their own solo records, and ''Garcia'' was released around the same time as Bob Weir's '' Ace'' and Mickey Hart's '' Rolling Thunder''. Unlike ''Ace'', which was practically a Grateful Dead album, ''Garcia'' was more of a solo effort, as Garcia played all the instrumental parts save the drums. Six tracks (specifically those coauthored by lyricist Robert Hunter) eventually became standards in the Grateful Dead concert repertoire, especially "The Wheel", which was performed over 250 times. Jerry Garcia
Jerome John Garcia (August 1, 1942 – August 9, 1995) was an American musician who was the lead guitarist and a vocalist with the rock band Grateful Dead, which he co-founded and which came to prominence during the counterculture of the 1960s. Although he disavowed the role, Garcia was viewed by many as the leader of the band. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 as a member of the Grateful Dead. As one of its founders, Garcia performed with the Grateful Dead for the band's entire 30-year career (1965–1995). ''Rolling Thunder'' is the first solo album by Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart. Although Hart had temporarily left the Grateful Dead at the time he made ''Rolling Thunder'', members of the Dead play on the album, along with several other well-known musicians from the San Francisco Bay Area music scene. Also featured are classical tabla players Zakir Hussain and his father Alla Rakha. The album contains early versions of two songs co-written by Bob Weir that later became Grateful Dead concert staples – "Playing in the Band"and "Greatest Story Ever Told" (called "Pump Song" on this album). The cover art for ''Rolling Thunder'' was created by Alton Kelly and Stanley Mouse's Kelly/Mouse Studios. ''ZigZag'' was a British rock music magazine. It was started by Pete Frame and the first edition was published on 16 April 1969. The magazine was noted for its interviews, articles, innovative "rock family trees" by Frame, and support for American songwriters such as Michael Nesmith, Mickey Newbury, Gene Clark, etc. It lasted in various forms through 1986. Multitrack recording (MTR), also known as multitracking, is a method of sound recording developed in 1955 that allows for the separate recording of multiple sound sources or of sound sources recorded at different times to create a cohesive whole. ''Kerosene Hat'' is the second studio album by American rock band Cracker, released on August 24, 1993. It reached number 1 on ''Billboard''s Top Heatseekers chart, and number 59 on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart. The singles from the album, " Low" and "Get Off This", helped Cracker gain widespread notice. According to frontman David Lowery, the album title comes from the band's early days in Richmond, Virginia. Lowery lived with Cracker guitarist Johnny Hickman in an old dilapidated house whose only source of heat came from two kerosene heaters. To buy more kerosene meant a cold walk to a nearby gas station, so before leaving the house, Lowery would bundle up and put on an old wool hunting cap – his "kerosene hat."
