Ganesh Prasad Rijal
Ganesh Prasad Rijal ( ne, :ne: गणेशप्रसाद रिजाल, 11 May 1920 – 4 April 1998) was a Nepali politician. He took part in the 1951 democratic revolution of Nepal and later in 1959, elected as a member of parliament from Ilam district. On 15 December 1960, King Mahendra suspended the constitution, dissolved the elected parliament, dismissed the cabinet, imposed direct rule and imprisoned the then prime minister Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala and his closest government colleagues. After King Mahendra's coup, Rijal was exiled to India along with other leaders and workers of Nepali Congress party. During his exile, he resided in Kalimpong and Naxalbari in Indian state of West Bengal. He returned homeland in 1975 following government granting amnesty, and continued his political career, residing in Damak and Kathmandu simultaneously. Panchthar district ( ne, पाँचथर जिल्ला) is one of 14 districts of Province No. 1 of eastern hilly region of Nepal. It is a Hill district of eastern Nepal. The district covers of area. The 2011 census counted 191,817 population. Phidim is the district headquarters. History Panchthar was a part of Old Dhankuta District during Rana era and until 1962. Dhankuta district had two subdivisions Chhathum and Terhathum. Panchthar was a thum (county) under the Terhathum subvision. The politics of Nepal functions within the framework of a parliamentary republic with a multi-party system. The history of Nepal is intertwined with the history of the broader Indian subcontinent and the surrounding regions, comprising the areas of South Asia and East Asia. Nepal is a multi-ethnic, multiracial, multicultural, multi-religious, and multilingual country. The most spoken language is Nepali followed by several other ethnic languages. Jhapa ( ne, झापा जिल्ला; ) is a district of Province No. 1 in eastern Nepal named after a Rajbanshi word "Jhapa" meaning "to cover" (verb). Naxalbari
Naxalbari (also spelled Naksalbari) is a village in the Naxalbari CD block in the Siliguri subdivision of the Darjeeling district in the state of West Bengal, India. Naxalbari is famous for being the site of a 1967 revolt that would eventually lead to the Naxalite–Maoist insurgency. History Naxalbari became famous for being the site of a left-wing poor peasants uprising in 1967, which began with the "land to tiller" slogan, an uprising continuing to this day (see Naxalite). The Naxalbari uprising was triggered on 25 May 1967 at Bengai Jote village in Naxalbari when the police opened fire on a group of villagers who were demanding their right to the crops at a particular piece of land.
