Gandey Block
Gandey block is a community development block (CD block) that forms an administrative division in the Giridih Sadar subdivision of the Giridih district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Overview Giridih is a plateau region. The western portion of the district is part of a larger central plateau. The rest of the district is a lower plateau, a flat table land with an elevation of about 1,300 feet. At the edges, the ghats drop to about 700 feet. The Pareshnath Hills or Shikharji rises to a height of 4,480 feet in the south-eastern part of the district. The district is thickly forested. Amongst the natural resources, it has coal and mica. Inaugurating the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in 2016, Raghubar Das, Chief Minister of Jharkhand, had indicated that there were 23 lakh BPL families in Jharkhand. Giridih Sadar Subdivision
Giridih Sadar subdivision is an administrative subdivision of the Giridih district in the state of Jharkhand, India. History In 1837, according to old British records, Hazaribagh district was divided into 12 police stations (thanas) of which Kharagdiha was one. Kharagdiha PS controlled the whole of what subsequently formed the Giridih subdivision, except Gawan, which had a zamindari thana, the expenses of which were not borne by the British government. A new police station was opened in 1838 at Bagodar on the then new Grand Trunk Road. In 1870, the Giridih subdivision was formed with its headquarters at Karharbari, in the heart of the coal-mining area. In 1871, the railway line from Madhupur to Giridih was laid primarily for coal transportation. At that time police stations in Giridh subdivision included Gawan, Satgawan, Jamua, Deori, Dhanwar, Birni, Giridih, Bengabad, Gandey, Dumri, Nawadih, Pirtand, and Bermo. Giridih District
Giridih district is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state, India, and Giridih is the administrative headquarters of this district. As of 2011 it is the third most populous district of Jharkhand (out of 24), after Ranchi and Dhanbad. History Giridh district was a part of Kharagdiha estate till late 18th century. During the British Raj Giridih became a part of Jungle Terry. After Kol Uprising in 1831, the parganas of Ramgarh, Kharagdiha, Kendi and Kunda became parts of the South-West Frontier Agency and were formed into a division named Hazaribag as the administrative headquarters. The Kharagdiha Rajas were settled as Rajas of Raj Dhanwar in 1809, and the Kharagdiha gadis were separately settled as zamindari estates. Some of the notable Kharagdiha Zamindari estates were Koderma, Gadi Palganj, Ledo Gadi, Gande Gadi, Ghoranji Gadi and Gadi Sirsia.
